A car screeched to a brake in the yard. Grant hurried out, and his face changed.
“Mr. Freeman, what brings you here at this hour…‘
Before he was done speaking, Hendrix had walked past him with such a terrifyingly grim face.
Grant tried to stop him, but he spat, “Get lost!”
As Hendrix had always presented himself as calm and collected, this was Grant’s first time seeing him so out of control.
Beatrice descended the stairs calmly. “You’re here.”
Staring at her from below, he replied, “Seems like you are anticipating me.
He didn’t even bother to greet her. She didn’t mind it, though.
Turning around, she suggested, “Come on. Let’s go to the study.”
Hendrix followed behind her. The door shut behind them, trapping both in the huge study.
“What have you said to Noelle today?” he asked directly without beating around the bush.
‘Nothing”
He sneered and lowered his voice. “I don’t understand. Do you hate me so much that you don’t want me to live well? I thought a mother’s love was selfless, but I’ve never experienced it from you.
“It’s fine if you can’t be selfless. I’ve never expected you to do anything for me, after all. Now that I’ve gotten what I wanted, you have to take it away from me. What is that for?”
He thought she stayed silent out of guilt.
Suddenly, Beatrice laughed out loud and said, “I’ve asked you that question before.”
“Oh. Are you still holding a grudge because of what happened to Lloyd Sanchez?” Hendrix smirked. “And is this your revenge?”
“No.”
“Why, then?”
“I feel sorry for Noelle. That poor thing,” Beatrice whispered. “She reminds me of my past self. Do you know you’re just like your dad?
“I once thought he loved me, just not in the way I wanted. But what did he do in the end? He had a mistress. Today, their child has assumed their place in the family, turning my past few decades into a joke.
“That’s why I don’t want Noelle to be put through the same thing. You, too, should-”
“Do not assume that Noelle is just like you!” Hendrix cut her off coldly. “I do not care about those crappy pasts. between you and Dad. Why did you allow that bastard child to move into our family if you hate him? And why did you help him to scheme?”
Beatrice fell silent, which sort of confirmed one of his guesses. But he was in no mood to think.

Woah chapters 41-45 is intense!! Good to see Noelle’s character who has come across as mostly detached actually express emotion....
I find Noelle’s character so frustrating, she comes across lacking any true emotion. The chapters where Rosie was missing was probably the most where we have seen some strong outward emotion shown. Dreading these next few chapters if she is going to do something drastic to “go find Seline” The author has taken us on a rollercoaster with these characters. The novel feels like it is at a stage now where they can come full circle....
A good change of pace and story in the last 10 chapters. Good to see the shift in Hendrix’s character (more patience) to win over Noelle and Rosie. Hope we start to see them warm up to him. Please no crazy twist where he loses them again. Have enjoyed this story and looking forward to its wrap up👨👩👧...

I have been in love with this novel but I don’t know how much patience I have to wait until the to finish line. Dear Author, can you atleast give us some idea about how long is this going to be or if there’s any turning point coming soon. And it would be great if you could upload at least 10 chapters at once. 5 chapters is making me more impatience with the anticipation of the further story of novel🙈...
I really hope there is a turning point in this story where Noelle starts to show some interest in Hendrix...
