As she spoke, Beatrice’s lips curled up into a small smile. She seemed to see someone else in Hendrix.
Hendrix fell silent for a while and nodded. “So, you side with neither Nathan nor me.”
Beatrice did not reply, which was an answer in itself.
Hendrix turned around without hesitation. “If that’s the case, it makes things easier for me.”
He had visited that night in search of an answer, holding onto a sliver of hope.
He didn’t mind if Beatrice lied, as long as it was a reason that could convince him that she did it for his own. good, or she wanted the couple to be honest with each other.
Those reasons would sound ridiculous and hard–pressed to him, but he would force himself to believe in Beatrice if she said so.
But she was unwilling to even lie to him.
Nothing held him back now. To him, his mother was a distant stranger. It was easy to take her down when she . made him her enemy.
It didn’t bother him because he grew up all alone anyway. He was accustomed to a lonely life.
Hendrix drove back to Nivis Villa.
The doctor was already there to check on Noelle. He informed Hendrix that he had sedated Noelle, and she was receiving an IV infusion, but he made it clear this was just a temporary solution.
“Her emotional turmoil is not good for the pregnancy, as it affect both the health of mother and child,” the doctor tried to frame it as politely as possible.
Hendrix listened with a blank face and grunted absentmindedly.
The doctor, who had nothing more to say, changed the topic. “Mr. Freeman, do you want me to tend to your hand injury?”
“It’s fine.” While speaking, Hendrix made his way upstairs Moments later, he suddenly paused in his tracks and turned around to speak to the doctor.
He asked, “Did you tell my mom about the change in prescription?”
The doctor, who was ready to leave, froze in place and stared at Hendrix in panic.
Hendrix smiled. “Great.”
With that, he made his way upstairs, leaving behind the shocked doctor.
Soon, Hendrix called up Dan and asked to replace the docto. He would never give a second chance to those who had betrayed him, regardless of their motives.
After the call, he changed into fresh clothes in the dressing room. The injury on his lower arm still looked nasty, but at least the bleeding had stopped. He glanced at it and put it behind him.
The visible wounds would heal one day, but the same could not be said of the invisible wounds.

Woah chapters 41-45 is intense!! Good to see Noelle’s character who has come across as mostly detached actually express emotion....
I find Noelle’s character so frustrating, she comes across lacking any true emotion. The chapters where Rosie was missing was probably the most where we have seen some strong outward emotion shown. Dreading these next few chapters if she is going to do something drastic to “go find Seline” The author has taken us on a rollercoaster with these characters. The novel feels like it is at a stage now where they can come full circle....
A good change of pace and story in the last 10 chapters. Good to see the shift in Hendrix’s character (more patience) to win over Noelle and Rosie. Hope we start to see them warm up to him. Please no crazy twist where he loses them again. Have enjoyed this story and looking forward to its wrap up👨👩👧...

I have been in love with this novel but I don’t know how much patience I have to wait until the to finish line. Dear Author, can you atleast give us some idea about how long is this going to be or if there’s any turning point coming soon. And it would be great if you could upload at least 10 chapters at once. 5 chapters is making me more impatience with the anticipation of the further story of novel🙈...
I really hope there is a turning point in this story where Noelle starts to show some interest in Hendrix...
