Ophelia watched Hendrix’s actions closely with a noticeable frown. 

It wasn’t until Hendrix felt that Noelle had eaten enough that he turned to Nathan. “By the way, I heard you’ve been in contact with the people over in Konray Capital. How’s that going?” 

Nathan had been quietly eating with his head lowered, but the moment Hendrix dropped that question, his hand froze in mid–motion. 

Then, he lifted his head in disbelief. 

Ophelia looked confused. “What’s Konray Capital?” 

“Oh, Grandma, you might not be familiar with them,” Hendrix said with a 

at smile. 

“They’re a company that deals in capital flow. Basically, they allow you to put your company shares up as collateral in exchange for a massive cash infusion. If the shares rise above a certain threshold within a set period, they even distribute dividends to you.. 

“But if the shares drop below a certain point, they have the contractual right to break down or even swallow your holdings. 

“I’m just wondering–how far along are you in this process, Nathan? And I also don’t quite understand. Your current lifestyle doesn’t require any major expenses, does it? So what exactly are you gaining from working with them?” 

Hendrix’s voice was soft, but his words were crystal clear–so clear that Nathan instantly turned deathly pale. 

Realizing the implications, Ophelia shot up from her seat, her eyes widening as she stared at Nathan. 

“What do you mean? Did you put Amity Group’s shares up as collateral?” she asked Nathan. 

Hendrix said nothing more. He simply picked up his glass and took a sip. 

Nathan stammered, “I–I didn’t! I was just in talks with them. That’s all. I haven’t actually-‘ 

“Oh, really?” Hendrix cut him off. “But from what I’ve gathered, you recently wired a large sum of money overseas. You don’t have any close relatives or friends abroad, so what was the reason for such a massive transfer? Don’t tell me you’re playing the stock market? 

“If you were really interested in that, you could’ve just come to me, I wouldn’t call myself an expert, but at the very least, I wouldn’t have let you gamble away your own shares. 

Nathan was rendered speechless. 

Ophelia, on the other hand, was so furious that she trembled all over. Without hesitation, she grabbed the glass beside her and hurled it at Nathan. 

“You bastard! I gave you all those shares, and this is how you handle them? How am I supposed to trust you with Amity Group now? At this rate, you’ll run the entire company into the ground!” 

“No, Grandma, it won’t happen!” Nathan hurriedly tried to explain. “Amity Group’s stock is very stable right now. As long as it holds steady, this deal won’t–” 

“You really don’t get it, do you?” Hendrix cut him off again “Did you actually think there’s such a thing as a free lunch? Sure, Amity Group’s stock is stable for now, but what about the repayments? With each debt rolling into the next, isn’t it getting to the point where you can barely cover it?”
