“Yeah,” Noelle replied.
“Is everything going well?” Hendrix asked again.
“Yes, very well. The doctor said the baby is healthy, and everything looks good.”
Noelle’s voice was calm, and her gaze carried a touch of warmth as she looked at him–just as usual.
Even so, a coldness still settled over Hendrix’s expression.
“Weren’t you busy today?” Noelle suddenly asked.
Hendrix frowned.
“Have you already settled everything that has to do with Nathan?” Noelle questioned.
Hendrix took a deep breath. “Not yet, but it’s almost done.“”
Noelle let out a soft “oh“, then nodded seriously.
Hendrix stared at her for a moment before asking, “Who did you run into at the hospital today?”
Noelle didn’t answer right away. Instead, she turned to glance at the housekeeper.
The housekeeper had clearly been discreetly monitoring their conversation, but the moment Noelle’s gaze landed on her, she suddenly felt a strange sense of guilt and quickly looked away.
Noelle frowned slightly before turning back to Hendrix. “So, the reason you had someone accompany me was to actually keep an eye on me?”
“I was worried something might happen to you,” Hendrix fried to explain in a low voice. “So, you-”
Not bothering to hide it anymore, Noelle answered calmly throughout, “Yes, I ran into Sandra. So what? We just talked for a bit. She didn’t do anything to hurt me, and as you can see, I’m perfectly fine. So, do I really need to report this to you?”
Hendrix’s gaze darkened. After a long silence, he finally asked, “So? Is there nothing else you want to ask me?”
Noelle remained silent.
He stood in front of her, locking eyes with her, as if forcing her to say something.
In the end, it was Noelle who looked away first. “No. There’s nothing to ask. What happened then… They’re already in the past.”
This seemingly casual remark pierced through Hendrix’s already intense emotions. And just like that, it was as if all the air had been let out of him. His once straight and rigid posture seemed to sink ever so slightly.
“Is it because it’s in the past? Or because you think it doesn’t matter? Or do you simply not care at all?” Hendrix asked.
Noelle only frowned, offering no response.
But in that silence, Hendrix seemed to find his answer anyway.
He didn’t wait for her to speak. Instead, he said, “Forget it. After all, it’s already in the past, isn’t it?”
Noelle stared at him for a moment, then suddenly similed. Yeah.”

Woah chapters 41-45 is intense!! Good to see Noelle’s character who has come across as mostly detached actually express emotion....
I find Noelle’s character so frustrating, she comes across lacking any true emotion. The chapters where Rosie was missing was probably the most where we have seen some strong outward emotion shown. Dreading these next few chapters if she is going to do something drastic to “go find Seline” The author has taken us on a rollercoaster with these characters. The novel feels like it is at a stage now where they can come full circle....
A good change of pace and story in the last 10 chapters. Good to see the shift in Hendrix’s character (more patience) to win over Noelle and Rosie. Hope we start to see them warm up to him. Please no crazy twist where he loses them again. Have enjoyed this story and looking forward to its wrap up👨👩👧...

I have been in love with this novel but I don’t know how much patience I have to wait until the to finish line. Dear Author, can you atleast give us some idea about how long is this going to be or if there’s any turning point coming soon. And it would be great if you could upload at least 10 chapters at once. 5 chapters is making me more impatience with the anticipation of the further story of novel🙈...
I really hope there is a turning point in this story where Noelle starts to show some interest in Hendrix...
