“Why don’t you meet him yourself?” Noelle countered. 

“I–I’m not interested in marriage right now.” 

“And you think I am?” 

Noelle’s response left Seline momentarily speechless. 

In the end, she sighed and said, “I’m just worried about how hard it is for you to take care of Rosie all by yourself. Like last time–she had a fever in the middle of the night, and you held her for the entire night. 

“This is ten whole hours we’re talking about, where there’s no one to even pour you a glass of water.” 

“That was just a rare situation. Besides, do you really think getting married means having someone to help? More likely, you’d just end up taking care of two people instead of one.” 

Seline had no argument against that. After all, the very reason she hadn’t married yet was because she didn’t trust men enough to rely on one. 

But for some reason, she was fine with this for herself. Yet, seeing Noelle alone like this still made her feel indignant. 

She had thought she was hiding it well. But across from her Noelle saw through her in an instant. 

“Did something happen over in Coppersville?” she asked, hazarding a guess. 

“Huh? What? I have no idea what you’re talking about. Did you hear some news or something?” 

The longer Seline knew Noelle, the worse she became at hiding things from her. And now, her string of rushed denials only made her suspicion more obvious. 

So, Noelle didn’t need to press any further. She simply raised an eyebrow and stared at her. 

Seline struggled for a moment before finally setting down her fork and said in a resigned tone, “Fine. I’ll tell you. But don’t get upset when you hear it.” 

“Mm, go on.” 

“I heard Hendrix might have gotten himself a new girlfriend recently.” 

The moment Seline said that, Rosie suddenly piped up from beside them, “Seline, who’s Hendrix?” 

Rosie had been completely silent throughout their conversation, quietly eating her food as if she wasn’t even paying attention. But the second she heard that name, she immediately asked. 

That kind of instinctive sixth sense made both Seline and Noelle freeze for a second. 

Seline quickly looked at Noelle, silently asking with her eyes whether she had ever told Rosie about Hendrix. But Noelle only shook her head.
