Hendrix's tone was light. In just a few sentences, he had explained everything to Noelle.
Of course, he didn't tell her that when he circled back to the house, he wasn't just facing Dylan alone. The others had also wanted him dead.
If he hadn't held May hostage and the fire hadn't grown so intense, Tony and the others would never have let him go. But Noelle didn't need to know these details.
While it was true he had come out of this alive, there was no guarantee he would be that lucky if the same situation were to happen again.
However, even with his abbreviated version of events, Noelle's expression remained grim. She suddenly let go of his hand and glared at him.
"You asked if I were trying to get myself killed, but what about you?" she asked through gritted teeth.
"I didn't have a choice at the time," Hendrix said. "If I didn't bring Nathan out, the situation wouldn't have been resolved. Besides—"
"Has it ever crossed your mind that you might actually die there? What am I supposed to do if you had really died?" Noelle cut him off sharply.
At that moment, she couldn't hear a word of his explanation. All she knew was—none of this had to happen. He could have just returned to Coppersville. He could have walked out of the fire safely.
Yes, it was true that they had the good fortune of running into each other outside the house. But what if she had been faster, or he had been slower? What if the firefighter hadn't shown up and stopped her?
She might have rushed into the fire. And in that case, could Hendrix have predicted the outcome? The thought of it filled Noelle with frustration. But more than that, she felt wronged. Her eyes reddened again.

Like how the story is progressing now but why is the author only releasing 3 chapters at a time? this is torture😩😩...
Woah chapters 41-45 is intense!! Good to see Noelle’s character who has come across as mostly detached actually express emotion....
I find Noelle’s character so frustrating, she comes across lacking any true emotion. The chapters where Rosie was missing was probably the most where we have seen some strong outward emotion shown. Dreading these next few chapters if she is going to do something drastic to “go find Seline” The author has taken us on a rollercoaster with these characters. The novel feels like it is at a stage now where they can come full circle....
A good change of pace and story in the last 10 chapters. Good to see the shift in Hendrix’s character (more patience) to win over Noelle and Rosie. Hope we start to see them warm up to him. Please no crazy twist where he loses them again. Have enjoyed this story and looking forward to its wrap up👨👩👧...

I have been in love with this novel but I don’t know how much patience I have to wait until the to finish line. Dear Author, can you atleast give us some idea about how long is this going to be or if there’s any turning point coming soon. And it would be great if you could upload at least 10 chapters at once. 5 chapters is making me more impatience with the anticipation of the further story of novel🙈...
I really hope there is a turning point in this story where Noelle starts to show some interest in Hendrix...
