The doctor quickly arrived to examine Noelle. Luckily, she hadn't made it into the burning building, so she hadn't inhaled too much smoke.
After listening to the doctor's update, Hendrix finally let out a breath of relief and was willing to return to his own hospital bed.
But Dan soon brought him another piece of news—Nathan didn't make it.
When Hendrix dragged him out, Nathan was barely breathing. Yet, even in that state, he had mustered the last of his strength to stab Hendrix in the abdomen. Which only proved just how much he hated Hendrix.
But no matter how deep that hatred ran, it didn't matter anymore. In the end, he was foolish enough to throw away his own life, just to be a pawn in someone else's game. And now that he was dead, whatever deal he had with Dylan died with him—no one else knew the details.
Hendrix had risked everything to drag him out for nothing.
Tony and the others, however, readily admitted to detaining Hendrix. But they insisted they were only following Nathan's orders. And everyone knew how much Nathan hated Hendrix. So, that was the end of it. Case closed.
Dylan came out of it without a speck of dirt on him. This wasn't the outcome Hendrix had expected.
But before that, another thought crossed his mind. For example, how did Tony and his men contact Noelle? They had taken his phone, sure, but it was locked with a passcode. There was no way they could've found her number on their own.
Unless Dylan gave it to them. And why did they insist Noelle deliver the money alone? What was their real goal? If Nathan hadn't exposed himself early, and if Hendrix hadn't started the fire, how would things have played out?
Hendrix didn't dare to think any further.
They had originally planned to keep their injuries a secret from their loved ones in Coppersville. But the fire had caused too much of a stir—especially with Nathan's death. Even Beatrice, who usually stayed out of things, knew about it.

Like how the story is progressing now but why is the author only releasing 3 chapters at a time? this is torture😩😩...
Woah chapters 41-45 is intense!! Good to see Noelle’s character who has come across as mostly detached actually express emotion....
I find Noelle’s character so frustrating, she comes across lacking any true emotion. The chapters where Rosie was missing was probably the most where we have seen some strong outward emotion shown. Dreading these next few chapters if she is going to do something drastic to “go find Seline” The author has taken us on a rollercoaster with these characters. The novel feels like it is at a stage now where they can come full circle....
A good change of pace and story in the last 10 chapters. Good to see the shift in Hendrix’s character (more patience) to win over Noelle and Rosie. Hope we start to see them warm up to him. Please no crazy twist where he loses them again. Have enjoyed this story and looking forward to its wrap up👨👩👧...

I have been in love with this novel but I don’t know how much patience I have to wait until the to finish line. Dear Author, can you atleast give us some idea about how long is this going to be or if there’s any turning point coming soon. And it would be great if you could upload at least 10 chapters at once. 5 chapters is making me more impatience with the anticipation of the further story of novel🙈...
I really hope there is a turning point in this story where Noelle starts to show some interest in Hendrix...
