When Noelle and Hendrix were discharged from the hospital and getting ready to leave Tilwick, the police asked Hendrix if he wanted to take Nathan's ashes with him.
Technically, given that Nathan was the ringleader in this case and Hendrix was the victim, it wasn't exactly an appropriate question. But at the same time, Hendrix was also Nathan's older brother. And in a way, his only family in this world. So, it made sense for the police to ask.
When Hendrix heard the question, his expression didn't change, nor did he hesitate. He simply replied, "No, thanks. If you don't know what to do with them, scatter them into the sea. Or a sewer—either works."
With that, he hung up.
Though he was the one on the call, Noelle was sitting right beside him, so she had heard every word. She couldn't see the police officer's expression or reaction over the phone, but she imagined he must have been shocked.
After all, from an outsider's perspective, Hendrix had risked his life running back into the fire to pull Nathan out. Anyone watching would have assumed it was an act of deep brotherly devotion. So, they would never have expected Hendrix to tell them to dump the ashes into a sewer.
"What are you thinking about?" Hendrix's voice suddenly broke the silence, pulling Noelle back to the present.
She looked at him and asked, "Who do you think is pulling the strings behind Nathan?"
It was the first time she had asked him this question, and there was a hint of uncertainty in her voice.
Hendrix raised an eyebrow in surprise before throwing the question back at her. "What do you think?"

Woah chapters 41-45 is intense!! Good to see Noelle’s character who has come across as mostly detached actually express emotion....
I find Noelle’s character so frustrating, she comes across lacking any true emotion. The chapters where Rosie was missing was probably the most where we have seen some strong outward emotion shown. Dreading these next few chapters if she is going to do something drastic to “go find Seline” The author has taken us on a rollercoaster with these characters. The novel feels like it is at a stage now where they can come full circle....
A good change of pace and story in the last 10 chapters. Good to see the shift in Hendrix’s character (more patience) to win over Noelle and Rosie. Hope we start to see them warm up to him. Please no crazy twist where he loses them again. Have enjoyed this story and looking forward to its wrap up👨👩👧...

I have been in love with this novel but I don’t know how much patience I have to wait until the to finish line. Dear Author, can you atleast give us some idea about how long is this going to be or if there’s any turning point coming soon. And it would be great if you could upload at least 10 chapters at once. 5 chapters is making me more impatience with the anticipation of the further story of novel🙈...
I really hope there is a turning point in this story where Noelle starts to show some interest in Hendrix...
