The woman who had shouted was about to continue making a scene, clearly intent on drawing the entire neighborhood's attention. But Hendrix quickly turned around.
To her, a thief should have looked guilty. Yet, when he looked at her, his eyes were sharp and piercing. That gaze made the woman swallow her words before they could leave her mouth.
Just then, Irene came out, holding something in her hand. When she saw Hendrix, her expression darkened. "How dare you show your face here again, you scoundrel? Do you have a death wish or something? Fine. I'll send you straight to hell right now!"
As she spoke, she raised the object in her hand, ready to strike Hendrix—just like she had done several times before.
But this time, Hendrix didn't dodge. Instead, he expressionlessly grabbed her hand. One of his arms was still in a splint. But even so, it was enough to stop Irene completely. Her eyes widened in shock.
Noelle also came out from inside. When she saw Hendrix, she was momentarily stunned. However, she quickly stepped forward. "Mom, why don't you put that down first?"
"No! This scoundrel is definitely here to hurt you! Don't be afraid. I'll protect you. Go inside!"
Noelle frowned, then looked at Hendrix.
Hendrix didn't say anything. He simply pushed Irene's hand away. He used considerable strength, causing Irene to stumble back several steps.
Her fierce temper was well-known throughout the village, and this was the first time someone had treated her like this. Irene's expression turned even grimmer. She was about to charge forward again when Noelle stopped her.
"Mom, that's enough! Go inside first!"
"No!" Irene said without hesitation. "What will happen to you if I go inside?"

Like how the story is progressing now but why is the author only releasing 3 chapters at a time? this is torture😩😩...
Woah chapters 41-45 is intense!! Good to see Noelle’s character who has come across as mostly detached actually express emotion....
I find Noelle’s character so frustrating, she comes across lacking any true emotion. The chapters where Rosie was missing was probably the most where we have seen some strong outward emotion shown. Dreading these next few chapters if she is going to do something drastic to “go find Seline” The author has taken us on a rollercoaster with these characters. The novel feels like it is at a stage now where they can come full circle....
A good change of pace and story in the last 10 chapters. Good to see the shift in Hendrix’s character (more patience) to win over Noelle and Rosie. Hope we start to see them warm up to him. Please no crazy twist where he loses them again. Have enjoyed this story and looking forward to its wrap up👨👩👧...

I have been in love with this novel but I don’t know how much patience I have to wait until the to finish line. Dear Author, can you atleast give us some idea about how long is this going to be or if there’s any turning point coming soon. And it would be great if you could upload at least 10 chapters at once. 5 chapters is making me more impatience with the anticipation of the further story of novel🙈...
I really hope there is a turning point in this story where Noelle starts to show some interest in Hendrix...
