Noelle couldn't help but frown.
But before she could say anything, Hendrix suddenly asked, "Why didn't you come?"
"What?"
"I'm asking why you didn't come to the hospital. Was it because you were too busy getting married?"
As Hendrix spoke, he took a step closer to her. His intense gaze felt as if he were trying to pull something out of Noelle.
Noelle froze for a moment but quickly replied, "I never said I would definitely go."
"You said you'd take care of me."
"I didn't say that. That was your own assumption," Noelle quickly retorted. Then, she looked up at him. "Besides, I'm pretty sure you have plenty of people taking care of you."
"What do you mean?"
"You've definitely had a lot of women before, right?" Noelle forced a smile. "I don't know why you're staying here, but I'm not like those women. So, if you're just looking for some fun, don't waste your time on me."
Noelle's voice was laced with sarcasm. But her eyes were slightly red, and her throat moved as if she was trying hard to swallow back the lump forming there.
Hendrix stared at her for a moment, then suddenly laughed. Until now, he had assumed Noelle was just throwing a tantrum. Although he didn't know what had upset her, he figured a little coaxing would do the trick.
But when he overheard her conversation with Irene earlier, he became consumed with anger. It wasn't until he heard Noelle's words that he realized—so it was his expertise that day that had made her overthink things.

Woah chapters 41-45 is intense!! Good to see Noelle’s character who has come across as mostly detached actually express emotion....
I find Noelle’s character so frustrating, she comes across lacking any true emotion. The chapters where Rosie was missing was probably the most where we have seen some strong outward emotion shown. Dreading these next few chapters if she is going to do something drastic to “go find Seline” The author has taken us on a rollercoaster with these characters. The novel feels like it is at a stage now where they can come full circle....
A good change of pace and story in the last 10 chapters. Good to see the shift in Hendrix’s character (more patience) to win over Noelle and Rosie. Hope we start to see them warm up to him. Please no crazy twist where he loses them again. Have enjoyed this story and looking forward to its wrap up👨👩👧...

I have been in love with this novel but I don’t know how much patience I have to wait until the to finish line. Dear Author, can you atleast give us some idea about how long is this going to be or if there’s any turning point coming soon. And it would be great if you could upload at least 10 chapters at once. 5 chapters is making me more impatience with the anticipation of the further story of novel🙈...
I really hope there is a turning point in this story where Noelle starts to show some interest in Hendrix...
