All Noelle felt now was a biting chill in her heart..

“Why?” she asked Hendrix. 

Hendrix didn’t like being pressed like this, and a trace of imitation flickered in his eyes. 

Noelle didn’t wait for him to respond. She continued, “Is it because we were married for two years, and you you understand me and trust me? Or is it because… you had something to do with last night’s events?”

Hendrix had no reaction to the first half of her sentence. But when he heard the latter part, his expression darkened instantly. “What are you trying to say?” 

“No, you probably didn’t orchestrate it,” Noelle went on, speaking more to herself than to him. “After all, you’re such a high and mighty man, Mr. Freeman. You wouldn’t stoop to such methods. But you must’ve known about it, didn’t you?” 

Her voice grew colder, steadier. “That includes the time Wiliam showed up at that restaurant. It wasn’t a coincidence, was it?” 

Until now, Noelle hadn’t considered the possibility. But Sandra’s phone call earlier had sparked something in her. 

After all, that restaurant was in a hidden location. If Liam hadn’t taken her there before, even she wouldn’t have known it existed. So, how could William have known? 

The only person who knew her past and would be so eager to ruin her was Sandra 

But what about Hendrix? What role had he played in all of this? Was he just standing idly by? 

Was he waiting for her to hit rock bottom so he could reach out a hand and make her grateful to him–like training a dog? 

When Noelle finished speaking, Hendrix suddenly chuckled “So what? Are you questioning me now?” 

“Do I not even have the right to know the truth?” Noelle retorted. 

“What truth? What do you think I would gain from doing any of this?” 

“You didn’t do it,” Noelle replied. “But you’re aware of it. You knew everything and let it happen, didn’t you?” 

Hendrix didn’t deny it. 

Noelle Laughed again. Then, she stood up without hesitation. 

But just as she turned to leave, Hendrix’s voice rang out behind her, “And why should I have stopped it? Or rather, who am I to step in? Don’t forget. We’re already divorced.” 

Then, he added, “If you were still my wife, perhaps I would ve-” 

“Would you? Really?” Noelle stopped and turned back to face him, cutting him off mid–sentence. “Sandra is the one behind all of this. Between the two of us, would you really take my side?” 

Without waiting for his answer, Noelle scoffed and answered her own question, “You wouldn’t. If you had taken my side, we wouldn’t have gotten divorced in the first place. So, don’t bring up this nonsense about how things would be different if we were still married. 

“Let me tell you plainly. The reason I divorce 

you was because of Sandra!” 

The words poured out of Noelle in a single breath.
