Noelle didn’t want to cry.
She had learned from a young age that tears only worked on people who loved her, and Hendrix clearly didn’t fall into that category. Right now, her tears would only disgust im.
Quickly, Noelle raised her hand and wiped them away.
Hendrix stood across from her, watching her movements. His brows furrowed slightly, but she didn’t notice.
Instead, she pressed on, “Where were you that night?”
“What?”
“The night I miscarried. Where were you?”
Hendrix didn’t answer.
Noelle’s voice softened even more, almost a whisper, as she said, “Sandra told me you were at an auction. Buying her a birthday present. Is that true?”
“She’d mentioned wanting it before. As for what happened to you… It was an accident,” Hendrix explained.
He said it as if that could even be called an explanation.
Noelle couldn’t help but laugh. It was as if she had just heard the punchline to the cruelest joke. Her body trembled with laughter, and her eyes were red–rimmed. However, not a single tear fell.
“Hendrix, it wasn’t an accident,” she said. “Sandra pushed me down the stairs.“”
His brows furrowed deeply. The moment the words were uttered, he instinctively opened his mouth to deny it. But when his eyes met hers, the protest died on his lips.
“You don’t believe she would, right?! Noelle asked.
“It’s in the past,” Hendrix finally said
“In the past?” Noelle looked up. “Hendrix, that was just a lifeless piece of flesh to you, right? But to me… that was my child.
“And when you came back, you didn’t even ask me if it hurt
“Also, where were you on our wedding anniversary? What about on my birthday? Where were you then?”
She unloaded all the questions she had been holding in for two years–questions that had circled endlessly in her mind. Now, she finally found the chance to voice them.
Even though… they didn’t matter anymore.
Hendrix stared at her for a long moment before letting out low laugh. “Are you interrogating me now? If you had so many questions, why didn’t you ask before? Don’t you think it’s a little pointless to dig up old grievances now?”
Noelle nodded. “You’re right. It is.”
Before today, Noelle had never even considered asking these questions aloud. Just as Hendrix said, these things were already in the past. Bringing them up now was pointless.
She didn’t want to lose her last shred of dignity by breaking down and questioning him hysterically. But she couldn’t hold back anymore.

Woah chapters 41-45 is intense!! Good to see Noelle’s character who has come across as mostly detached actually express emotion....
I find Noelle’s character so frustrating, she comes across lacking any true emotion. The chapters where Rosie was missing was probably the most where we have seen some strong outward emotion shown. Dreading these next few chapters if she is going to do something drastic to “go find Seline” The author has taken us on a rollercoaster with these characters. The novel feels like it is at a stage now where they can come full circle....
A good change of pace and story in the last 10 chapters. Good to see the shift in Hendrix’s character (more patience) to win over Noelle and Rosie. Hope we start to see them warm up to him. Please no crazy twist where he loses them again. Have enjoyed this story and looking forward to its wrap up👨👩👧...

I have been in love with this novel but I don’t know how much patience I have to wait until the to finish line. Dear Author, can you atleast give us some idea about how long is this going to be or if there’s any turning point coming soon. And it would be great if you could upload at least 10 chapters at once. 5 chapters is making me more impatience with the anticipation of the further story of novel🙈...
I really hope there is a turning point in this story where Noelle starts to show some interest in Hendrix...
