Chapter 157
Finally, Sandy didn’t pick Quiana. There was no need for any interference. Steven was so relieved that he almost wanted to cry. Sandy clearly didn’t care to challenge Quiana, dismissing her completely.
It should have been a normal situation, but all the girls watching the competition couldn’t help but look at Quiana with complicated expressions. And Doris, staring at the badge hanging from her neck, just wanted to burst into tears.
She thought, ‘We have the same last name, but why am I so unlucky? Why couldn’t Sandy just play along like everyone else? Didn’t she see Quiana standing there, waiting to be challenged?‘
However, even if Doris did cry, it wouldn’t change a thing. She could only drag her feet and walk toward the stage.
Quiana raised an eyebrow, glancing at Sandy for a moment longer. She handed the microphone back to Steven and casually walked toward her seat. When she sat down, she exuded that boss–level aura.
Even though Sandy had seen the Position One empty earlier, she hadn’t expected Quiana to sit there. When she did, she was stunned. Doris, noticing Sandy’s gaze fixed on Quiana, silently prayed, “Pick her! Pick Quiana!”
Unfortunately, no one heard her prayer. Sandy snapped out of her trance after a brief pause and coldly said, “Let’s begin.”
Doris felt helpless. They were competing in singing and dancing. Sandy sang and danced with incredible energy, and her popping routine got everyone hyped.
Doris, on the other hand, was from a small company. Though she had studied dance for a few years, her stage experience and skills weren’t as solid. When she sang, her breath control faltered.
After a brief discussion, Jocelyn and the others gave their scores. Sandy defeated Doris.
Doris was ranked 37 and was in Grade C, which wasn’t bad. For her first performance, she was full of confidence, sure she wouldn’t be eliminated. What she didn’t expect was for a challenger to appear out of nowhere and defeat her.
Doris stood frozen, unable to hold back the tears. Jocelyn offered a few kind words of consolation, and once Doris had left the stage, Steven said, “Let’s give a round of applause for Sandy, who has successfully challenged and joined the training camp!”
The applause was sparse. Sandy frowned, her eyes briefly scanning Position One. Quiana sitting there had one leg crossed over the other, exuding a cool, distant air. She definitely seemed like someone one didn’t want to mess with.
Sandy thought, ‘Position One is supposed to be earned by skill, but how did she end up there? Did she win a fight? Or did she have connections?‘
