Chapter 103
The man stared straight ahead, his indifferent, deep eyes seemed to be blank, or perhaps he was gazing at something far away, with a hint of sorrow.
“I was abroad when they passed away, in a place I couldn’t return to. I hadn’t seen my mom for over a year, and she said she missed me, wanted to see where she could see me. My dad said, ‘Let’s go to Oberlin; it’s close to the sea, maybe we can see him across the water.” As he spoke, his voice gradually grew hoarse, as if he was choking on something. “On the way to Oberlin, they had a car accident, caught between two large trucks; their car was crushed in the middle. I never got to see them one last time.”
Shakira listened quietly to him. In fact, this was the second time he had shared these words with her. The first time was in Belaris. Back then, they had both been wearing masks, unable to see each other’s expressions. He kept drinking, drunk and lamenting his regrets. Now… Shakira knew he was still deeply saddened. Unconsciously, she lifted her hand and gently placed it on his shoulder. Some words slipped out as if by an unseen force, “Even though they can’t be by your side, they’ve become stars in the sky, and they can always watch over you.”
Walter’s body trembled slightly. With surprise, he suddenly grasped Shakira’s arm. There was a sharp edge in his tone as he pressed, “Who told you that?” Back in Belaris, he had been seven parts drunk and three parts sober when the fox had said that to him, and he remembered it. But now, Shakira unexpectedly said it again… He suddenly grew agitated, not realizing how hard he was gripping her; Shakira frowned slightly in pain.
She met his scrutinizing gaze, staring directly at him without any evasion. “I said it because I wanted to; it has nothing to do with anyone else.”
Walter fixed his gaze on her but couldn’t discern anything unusual in her expression. Finally, he released her hand and turned his gaze away. “I don’t want them to see me like this, looking like I’ve got nothing going on.”
Shakira exhaled deeply. “Your leg will heal; just give me some more time.” Walter snorted coldly, and ultimately, he fell
silent.
Three hours later, the convoy arrived in Oberlin. Shakira thought Walter would stay at a hotel, but unexpectedly, the convoy drove straight into a neighborhood surrounded by mountains, with beautiful and refreshing scenery. The car slowly stopped in front of a villa, where a man and a woman were already waiting; they were faces Shakira had never seen before As she got out of the car, they rushed over, looking excited to see Walter. “Walter, it’s been a long journey; you must be tired; come inside and rest.”
The woman leading the way looked somewhat aged but was well-maintained, standing next to a man of similar age and temperament; he was presumably her husband. The way they looked at Walter was filled with affection, as if they were gazing at their own child.
“It’s been a while; Walter looks even better than before!”
Walter nodded slightly. “Aunt, Uncle.” He turned to Shakira, and she understood, quickly stepping forward to assist with his wheelchair.
At this moment, the couple noticed Shakira. “Who is this girl…?”
“She is my…

“I’m the young master’s caretaker; you can just call me Shakira,” Shakira interjected before Walter could finish. Walter’s expression darkened, his profile tightening slightly, clearly showing his displeasure. Shakira noticed his subtle reaction but pretended not to see it. What she said was the truth; ‘why should he be angry? Walter has been in a bad mood these days; I mustn’t provoke him.
Skyla Inwood exchanged glances with her husband, their eyes revealing a hint of meaning. “Walter rarely has females around him… Shakira, I’ll leave Walter in your care.”
“It’s what I should do.”

Chapter 103
Walter spoke coldly, “Let’s go inside.”
The couple’s house wasn’t as grand as the Eastlake Valley Estate, nor was it the kind of ostentatious display typical of the newly wealthy. The house had a rustic style, decorated warmly, and various artworks were displayed throughout, clearly showcasing the owners’ good taste.
Under Skyla’s guidance, Shakira pushed Walter into a small suite on the first floor. As soon as they entered, Shakira was stunned.
Walter realized something, but it was too late to speak. “Shakira, you give me-”

“Wow, is this the young master in a dress with braids?” Shakira walked straight to a dresser facing the door, picking up a childhood photo placed on it. Seeing the small face that was a miniature version of Walter’s, Shakira was thrilled. She never expected Walter to have such embarrassing photos! Shakira’s gaze instinctively wandered to that significant part…
Walter’s face darkened. The grinding of his teeth could be heard from several meters away. “Shakira! Put that down!”
Reluctantly, Shakira set it down but then discovered something new, “Oh no, is this the young master in open-crotch pants?!”
Walter thought, ‘I should have just thrown her out on the way!”
Shakira was filled with wonder and interest in the room, and Skyla, standing at the door, couldn’t help but cover her mouth and laugh.
‘I knew it, Walter has never been spoiled since he was a child; he has become independent. Even now, despite his inconvenience, he wouldn’t let a girl follow him. Now look at this…
The teasing glint in Skyla’s eyes deepened, and she smiled as she explained, “When Walter was little, his parents often brought him to Oberlin, but he was so naughty that he couldn’t sit still. His mother would send him to interest classes, and they took photos of activities during that time.”
Shakira nodded. “I thought so; being able to take those photos means the young master must have been young. If he had grown a couple more years, how could he have done such embarrassing things?”
Skyla chuckled, “You both rest for a bit; I’ll go make dinner.”
As soon as Skyla left, the previously dark-faced Walter could no longer hold back and steered his wheelchair directly toward Shakira. The room was small, and there was no way for Shakira to dodge. Like a chick, she was caught by Walter in an instant. With a wall behind her and an angry man in front, Shakira raised her hands in surrender, yet the corners of her mouth couldn’t suppress a smile, lifting high, “I will definitely keep the young master’s secrets; I won’t let anyone know about the diapers and braids…”
Seeing her chatter on, still with a teasing smile, Walter’s eyes darkened, and he suddenly grasped her waist, pinching her chin and pulling her into his embrace. His thin lips, filled with anger, pressed down as a form of punishment!
