The True Heiress's Return novel Chapter 112

Chapter 112
Sean laughed, “Guess what?”
Shakira thought for a moment, and a cold smile crept onto her lips. “Yvette.”
“Wow! You really are the Boss; you guessed it right away!” Sean exclaimed excitedly on the other end.
“Lago is c***ng; the remaining 5% shares pose a risk to his control. He wouldn’t easily transfer them to someone he doesn’t trust.”
Sean clicked his tongue. “So, do you want to guess when Lago transferred the shares to Yvette?”
At this moment, Shakira heard familia.
voices at the classroom door. She raised her eyes slightly while holding her phone and saw Yvette walking in with a cheerful expression. Their gazes met, and Shakira clearly noticed the fleeting shock and disgust on Yvette’s face, as well as the c***ng calculations hidden deep within her gaze. Shakira’s smile deepened, and she lowered her voice, “It must have been when she was still small, at least before it was publicly confirmed that the two families had swapped their children.”
“Boss, you’re amazing!” Sean sounded thrilled on the phone, “The shares in Yvette’s name are original shares, given out the same year Lago established the company!”
Shakira calculated, “Six years ago, when Yvette and I were twelve, Lago started the company at the beginning of the year.” She remembered this timeline very clearly. During the company’s founding, Lago often left home early and returned late. Shakira would come home from school and immediately start cooking, cleaning, and washing the piles of clothes that had accumulated throughout the day. It was just the start of spring; the weather hadn’t fully warmed up yet, and by the time Shakira finished her chores, it was nearly midnight, with her hands frozen and stiff. That month, Shakira got her first period, which was late compared to most girls her age. She had learned about the physiological process but didn’t know how uncomfortable it would be. With aching lower abdomen and sore back, she finally finished her chores and lay down. Lago came back drunk and threw up at the door. Jessie knocked hard on her door, clearly displeased. “What are you sleepin, for? Get up
and clean this mess outside!”
Shakira, enduring her stomach pain, opened the door to reveal a pale face, “Mom, I don’t feel well; can I clean it tomorrow?”
“What? You want to wait until tomorrow?” Jessie raised her hand, hitting her hard on the forehead, “What are you pretending for? Just because you do a little work here and there, you think you’re someone special? We work hard to provide for you; you think you can just laze around?”
Shakira nearly got dizzy from the blow to her head. In the end, she still gritted her teeth through the pain and cleaned up the filth outside.
“Boss, are you still there?” Sean’s voice pulled Shakira back to reality.
She suppressed the coldness in her eyes and replied calmly, “I understand; I will handle her shares.”
Just as she hung up, someone tapped her on the shoulder. Shakira looked up to see Xanthe jumping in front of her, “You finally came to class! I’ve been waiting for you for several days.”
“Waiting for me?”
“Yes, you’re my only friend left, of course, I thought of you.”

“Hey Shakira, have you been following the fortune-telling drama online? Someone’s house in Crescentville is in terrible shape, and they bought a multi-million dollar villa. The owner is a heartless businessman who now can’t even sell the house to make money. Bad people get what they deserve; it’s so satisfying to see!” Xanthe clapped her hands in delight
She then added, “That person is your black-hearted adoptive father, Lago! No wonder your luck was always bad; it must have been cursed by his family’s bad luck!”
Shakira’s smile twitched as she noticed Yvette’s disgusted expression and couldn’t help but laugh.
Yvette clenched her fists, struggling to endure, and finally convinced herself to ignore Xanthe. “Shakira, you finally came to school.” Yvette’s fake, exaggerated expression was easy to read, “You don’t know how worried I’ve been about you these past few days.” Yvette cautiously looked at her, lowering her voice, “Lago has done something bad to you. Although I don’t know the details, he… I can apologize to you on his behalf, can I?”
Xanthe’s face instantly changed, almost jumping up in anger, “What did he do, Shakira? That b**rd Lago harmed you?” She turned to Yvette, glaring fiercely, “You hypocrite! You’re clearly in cahoots with him; stop pretending!”
Yvette stepped back in fright, looking even more pitiful, “Xanthe, you misunderstood me! I really didn’t know he would send Shakira to be with a man…” Yvette’s voice was loud enough for everyone around to hear. Though she didn’t finish her sentence, her expression and tone made it easy for others to draw their own conclusions.
The crowd gasped in shock, “No way, did Shakira really go to be with a man?”
“What the heck, that’s so dirty…”
Xanthe was stunned, glaring at Yvette, “You shameless liar! Do you want me to tear your mouth apart?” Xanthe’s protective actions for Shakira, in the eyes of the crowd, seemed like a cover-up.
Yvette was laughing her head off inside. ‘Xanthe, that fool, is really useful!’
Shakira looked at Yvette with a blank expression. Observing Yvette’s smug and malicious demeanor, Shakira casually raised a faint smile. She remained calm, as if the gossip about her reputation didn’t concern her at all. Instead, she calmly countered Yvette’s statement, “What position do you have to apologize to me on behalf of Lago? Are you the Miss of the Nelson family, or Lago’s biological daughter?”
