Chapter 169
Berry: [Wette, why do you care about her? If she’s jealous of you and Joe, that’s her problern!] The group fell silent, everyone hesitating to speak.
Xanthe’s eyes reddened at the sight, realizing that her potential missteps could drag Shakira down, all because of Yvette. Anger surged within her. “Those two wretches, L
Shakira placed a reassuring hand on Xanthe’s shoulder while quickly typing on her phone. Soon enough, Xanthe got Shakira’s response Shakira: [Flies are annoying, but I respect life]
Xanthe: [LOL]
Xanthe burst into laughter at Shakira’s reply, clutching her stomach in amusement. Shakira set her phone down and went back to eating.
Xanthe’s laughter went on for nearly five minutes, and when it finally calmed down, she found herself wiping away tears. “I thought I might die from laughing. No one dared to speak up in the group, but I’m sure they were all cracking up privately
Xanthe remarked, “Yvette has no self–awareness. Every time she gets publicly humiliated by you, how can she still be drawn to you?”
Shakira, still focused on her meal, replied nonchalantly, “Lack of intelligence, quite typical”
Once Xanthe’s laughter faded, a sense of anxiety crept in. “Shakira, how can you still eat? Aren’t you worried? You need to think of a way to smooth things over with Mr. Lopez!”
Shakira glanced at her. “Are you going to soothe him?”
Xanthe shook her head vigorously, “I wouldn’t dare… But Mr. Lopez left angry without even eating! Aren’t you concerned?”
“How was I to know he’d get upset so easily?” Shakira sighed.
Xanthe stared, incredulous. “Isn’t it obvious? Mr. Lopez is jealous
Shakira paused mid–bite for a moment, then started eating even more vigorously. Xanthe was taken aback, feeling a strange sense of urgency on Shakira’s behalf.
Shakira finished her meal, she elegantly wiped her hands with a napkin and got up to load his plate with food. “I’m ried, so I need to fill up before I go calm him down.”
Xanthe initially thought Shakira was fearless and indifferent to Mr. Lopez’s anger. Little did she know, Shakira was actually anxious inside.
Xanthe mused, This is definitely mutual affection! As she watched Shakira leave, she cheered her on. “Go for it, Shakirat Tm with you in spirit!”
Shakira hadn’t planned to console Walter. However, Xanthe’s mention of Walter being jealous stirred a peculiar feeling within her. Is it delight? Satisfaction?‘ Shakira couldn’t quite put her finger on it, burshe felt compelled to see his reaction.
Last time, after Shakira had said that Berry’s perfume wasn’t as appealing as the smell of food, Walter had accused her of being jealous. Now, the tables had turned, and it was Shakira’s turn to poke fun at Walter.
Walter had spent the brief interval summoning Brian to investigate the lingering feelings between Joe and Shakira.
