Chapter 192
This wasn’t their first kiss, nor was it the first time Walter kissed her when they were clear–headed. But Shakira was certain she’d never felt her senses heightened to such an extent.
Almost all her attention focused on the moment Walter’s lips touched hers, absorbed in him and the space where they connected.
Her lips felt soft and hot, trembling slightly. Walter kissed her awkwardly, cautiously but unable to hold back his intensity.
His large hand moved from the back of her head down her neck, finally resting firmly on her shoulder blade, encircling her with a possessiveness that words couldn’t convey.
Shakira felt dizzy, and when her mind started to clear, Walter had already let her go. She was slumped against Walter’s chest, gasping for air like a fish almost out of water.
Walter noticed her flushed face and distant look, assuming she was just out of breath.
He couldn’t help but frown. “Don’t know how to breathe properly?”
Shakira sensed the disdain in Walter’s voice and muttered sulkily. “How would I know?”
Walter thought for a moment and nodded as if it made perfect sense. “Right, you’re lacking practice. Kiss more and you’ll improye.”
Shakira was speechless.
It sounded like Walter was considering her well–being, but somehow, it just didn’t feel right.
Walter felt a bit attached, his large hand squeezing and releasing Shakira’s shoulder several times. Eventually, he slowly withdrew his hand but couldn’t resist giving Shakira’s rosy cheek a gentle pinch.
“I might get back late tonight. If you feel sleepy, just go to bed early,” said Walter.
Shakira mumbled. “Got it.“,
Seeing Shakira’s obedient yet slightly puzzled look, Walter’s gaze gradually deepened.
He took a deep breath to calm down, fighting the urge to pull Shakira into his arms and kiss her again, before finally leaving the room. He wasn’t in a rush; there was plenty of time.
After Walter left, Shakira continued packing her suitcase. Her hands were busy, but her mind was wandering off somewhere unknown.
She had never thought about relationships before, but when it came to Walter, common sense seemed to fail, and many things were beyond her control.
After dinner, Shakira sat in her room and played PUBG with Cathy. Cathy had recently become fascinated with PUBG, but she wasn’t very good at these kinds of games yet. Her moves were robotic, and she’d often get frustrated and start yelling.
Tonight, she decided to make up for past losses and called in Shakira, Sean, and Gideon for a four–player game, hoping to rely on them.
However, with three strong teammates, she still ended up being the first one out and could only watch in spectator mode as the trio dominated the match.
[Why is it always me who gets taken out!?]

[On the left! Sean, go!]
[In the bushes. Gideon, he’s on your right!]
[Shakira, there’s a rock ahead… Ow, never mind. You wiped them all out!]
Sean was so mad he almost blew a fuse. [Do you think we all have gaming skills like Shakira!?]
[True, you guys can’t compare to Shakira. You’re all such noobs
Sean was practically fuming.

The four of them had been playing together for over three hours. Seeing that it was about time, Shakira logged off first. She opened her WhatsApp and found the class group chat buzzing. The reason was simple. They’d be able to check their final exam scores the next day, and everyone was trying to guess who would grab the top spot this time.
[It’s not going to be Shakira. She was late for the listening test, and probably lost a lot of points there.]
[I used to feel bad for her, but now I understand. Pitiful people must have some reason behind it!]
[Isn’t it boring for her to be number one every single time? It’s about time someone else got a chance!]
[Exactly and even if she’s not number one, she can still intern at the Lopez Group. It would be better to let someone else have the spot.]
That’s not easy to say. The
still the lottery draw for spots. They can’t just blatantly cheat, right?]
Seeing the sarcastic comments in the chat, Shakira’s lips twitched slightly.
At that moment, Xanthe appeared, firing back at all those people in the group chat like a machine gun.
[Oh, please, you guys act like saints. It’s not you who always gets the top score. How arrogant!]
[Shakira gets the top spot because she’s talented. If you want to be number one, earn it yourself. Aren’t you ashamed?]
[Shakira’s grades are outstanding. Any company would want her. Unlike you guys, who are just helpless, waiting for luck to decide your fate!]
Others were rendered speechless by Xanthe.
Once Xanthe spoke up, everyone went quiet. Nobody dared to come out and argue.
Feeling satisfied, Xanthe poked at Shakira’s chat window. [Shakira, did you see? Those idiots don’t dare to say a word now!]
Shakira sent a thumbs–up emoji.
After a brief chat, Shakira heard cars downstairs. Several cars arrived, and she knew it had to be Walter.
Shakira suddenly thought of the scene from this afternoon, feeling awkward. Not knowing how to face Walter, she quickly said goodnight to Xanthe and hid under her blankets..
About ten minutes later, Walter returned to the bedroom. A small yellow light was on, and there was a little bump on the
bed.
Walter looked around, picked up his pajamas, and went into the bathroom to freshen up.
Hearing the sound of water splashing inside, Shakira, who had been holding her breath under the covers, finally peeked out. But then she thought, ‘Am I being too cowardly?‘
