Chapter 212
On the way home, Shakira finally bad the time to check her phone. To her surprise, a flood of notifications came rushing in. It turned out that the commotion from earlier that morning had been uploaded online.
Afterward, medical students and hospital staff tried to inform the public about who this unknown doctor, Lonely Bird, really
was.
[The only direct disciple of Matthew, the legendary genius with exceptional medical skills. Did he actually appear in person?]
[It looks like they were filming a variety show! Could it be the one directed by Kevin recently?]
Wow, that’s a major production in the city, in collaboration with the authorities. No wonder they managed to invite the mysterious Lonely Bird to appear..]
Geez, do these old folks even know who they were yelling at? They actually dared to question Lonely Bird’s medical skills?]
Such ignorant people! Don’t blur their faces–let them go virall Once they get home, their kids will school them properly. and they’ll regret it for sure!]
[Oh my, this has blown up way too much! Why isn’t there any follow–up? Could the doctor have been injured?]
You just don’t get it, do you? This is a common tactic used by production teams–it’s all marketing hype.]
But judging by how intense it got, it doesn’t seem fake…]
[Auh, Lonely Bird! My idol! The reason I grind through medical school every day!! When does the show air? I’m watching it for sure!]
“Lonely Bird” had been trending in bold red on the hot search list for an entire day before Shakira finally noticed it.
What left her feeling helpless was that Matthew, along with Sean and Gideon, had all sent her numerous messages, checking in on her situation.
Shakira replied to each message, reassuring them that she was fine. However, Ethan and Yael remained skeptical, thinking she was just saying nice things to comfort them.
Left with no choice, Shakira recorded a short video with a serious expression, explaining, “I’m really okay, see for yourselves if you don’t believe me!”
With the video as proof, they were finally reassured. However, Sean was still on the verge of exploding, ranting furiously
over the text.
Sean: [Arghhh, what the heck? Those old geezers were acting all frail on the bus, but once they got to the hospital, they were tougher than college students! Were they seriously thinking of starting a fight?]
Gideon kept following up with concern. [Is Shakira still at the hospital? I’ll head over to check on her…]
Shakira quickly responded. (I’ve already finished my shift. I’m fine, really. No need to worry about me.]
Scan: 11 don’t believe you unless we see you! How about we grab dinner tonight? Let’s go to Eastlake Valley Estate!] Shakira felt a headache coming on. [I don’t have an appetite. After a whole day of work, I just want some peace and quiet.] Sean: (Alright then, Shakira, make sure to rest! I’ll find a few bodyguards to keep an eye on you tomorrow!! Shakira: [You can keep them for yourself. You guys don’t need to worry about me. Kevin has already arranged everything
Chapter 212
there won’t be any more problems.]
In the end, to ease their worries, Shakira agreed to team up for PUBG later that night. Only then did Sean settle down.
Walter was going to be late returning home, so after Shakira had dinner and took a relaxing bath, she lay down in bed and logged on to play games with Sean and the others.
Sean murmured: “Cathy said she wants to do some kind of livestream. Should we just form our own group?”
Gideon said, “Let’s go with what Shakira wants.”
Shakira opened her friends list and noticed Xanthe was online, so she sent an invitation.
Xanthe jumped into the team, a bit confused at first. “Huh? Is that you, Shakira?”
Shakira smiled and replied. “Yep, it’s me! Want to join in?”
She introduced Xanthe to Sean and Gideon. “This is Xanthe, my college classmate.”
Xanthe happily greeted. “Hi, everyone!”
Sean was surprised. “Why is it you? Do you also play PUBC? Are you good at it, or are you a noob?”
On the other side, Xanthe was completely shocked, ‘Shakira was actually playing PUBG with Sean? Does Mr. Lopez know about this?‘ Xanthe was getting worried for Shakira.
“Of course I can! The one who can’t be you, Mr. Reynolds!” Xanthe retorted sharply, refusing to be underestimated.
“Who said I can’t? Damn! You’re a girl, and you come straight at me like this, saying I can’t?” Sean shouted.
“Hey, weren’t you the one questioning my abilities first? So, according to you, Mr. Reynolds, does that make you a girl too?” Xanthe asked.
Sean replied, “I’m going to get you! Just wait, I’ll find a grenade and blow you up later!”
Listening to their banter, Shakira and Gideon couldn’t help but laugh. ‘It was too entertaining, they thought.
Once the squad game began, Sean and Xanthe bickered like kids the entire time.
Whenever Sean asked for some gear and a teammate marked it, Xanthe would swoop in and grab it first, leaving Sean fuming as he chased after her, throwing punches in frustration
“Damn it, give me back my ammo!”
“Weren’t you the one who said you’d blow me up earlier? Come on, do it Blow me up, and then you can loot my crate.” Sean picked up a grenade, grinning. “Stay still if you’ve got the guts I swear I’ll blow you up!”
Xanthe actually stood still, not moving an inch, and even stapted dancing and striking poses at Sean, taunting him.
Fuming, Sean hurled the grenade straight at her. But to his surprise, Xanthe leaped out of the way at the last second. The grenade hit a shipping container, bounced back, and exploded–blowing Sean flat on the ground.
Xanthe laughed so loud. “Oh my gosh, you’re so clumsy, you can’t even throw a grenade properly! Having trouble, Mr. Reynolds?”
Sean yelled up to the sky, “Xanthe, just wait!”
Shakira and Max burst into laughter.
Chapter 212
Sean felt frustrated, “You guys, stop laughing and help me up, alright?” Sean hardly got to win tonight, but Shakira was laughing so hard, that tears were streaming down her face.
Shakira thought, ‘Who would’ve thought Sean and Xanthe together could be so entertaining? A pair of bickering lovebirds.
Shakira was having such a blast that she didn’t even notice the door behind her quietly swinging open. A mechanical wheelchair rolled onto the carpet, gliding silently toward her.
Shakira was sniping from a distance. She had just taken down two enemies when a low chuckle came from behind her, “Steady hands.” Startled, Shakira’s third shot went astray
She sat up straight and turned her head to look at Walter, who lid just come back. She glanced back at her game. “You came in so quietly, that really startled me.”
