Chapter 227
Howard nervously swallowed, forcing a very reluctant smile. “Dr. Lonely Bird, you must be joking. The camera is outside the window, how could it possibly catch anything inside the office?”
“Let’s see if it recorded anything.” Shakira shrugged casually as she logged into the app on the computer and accessed the surveillance footage.
Once the loading circle vanished, the surveillance footage came into view. The camera, aimed outdoors, only showed a slice of the office. After a tense peek at the image, Howard exhaled in relief. The camera didn’t catch the computer screen at all!
Fiona, who had been holding her breath, let it out with visible relief, looking smug and disdainful. “You’re at death’s door and still making pointless struggles, Lonely Bird. If I were you, I wouldn’t embarrass myself like this!”
The department head laughed helplessly. “Oh, it’s really unfortunate that our hospital hired someone so unethical, a coward who can’t own up to their mistakes!”
After being looked down on, Yvette also joined in to kick someone when they were down, with a deep sense of disappointment. “Dr. Lonely Bird, Felix and I have always respected your medical skills and character, but… this is really disappointing us!”
Felix clenched his fists as he looked at Shakira, his eyes trembled and were filled with mixed emotions.
Kevin and Michael exchanged a look, both seeing the helplessness and sadness in each other’s eyes. They couldn’t accept how things had turned out.
They trusted Dr. Lonely Bird’s character and medical skills. If she said there was no mistake, then there was definitely no mistake.
Yet, unfortunately, there was no evidence to prove her innocence…
Kevin was filled with regret. “This is my fault! If only I had arranged for more cameras, we wouldn’t have missed capturing any evidence!”
Michael sighed deeply. “Fate plays tricks on people!”
Having watched the entire playback, Shakira noticed the two looking at her with sympathy. She smiled slightly. “How could we miss capturing it? Actually, it’s all recorded clearly.”
“What?” They couldn’t believe it.
Shakira zoomed in on the tightly closed window in the playback, murmuring softly, “The show’s camera lenses were reflecting the light, unable to capture the screen. But from this angle, it perfectly reflects the image on the computer screen onto the glass.”
Her slender hand pointed to the top left corner of the image, where the image was blurry but the details were clear. “Here, Howard deleted one character and typed another, causing the medication error.” The moment of changing the character was incredibly distinct.
The crowd erupted in disbelief, turning to Howard.
Howard’s eyes were wide open, his face ghostly pale. “No, it’s not me! Impossible, how could it be-”
Shakira approached him, her face neutral, and said each word clearly, “Doctors can change prescriptions in the system without a record before they’re confirmed at the pharmacy.
“You redirected the nearest elevator to another floor, using the time gap to change the prescription on my computer.

“If you think this evidence isn’t enough, you can check the elevator’s surveillance footage to see if you tampered with it beforehand, or ask other department nurses if you asked them to hold the elevator for you.”
Howard slumped heavily to the ground in despair. With him in such a state, it was clear who the real culprit was.
George, filled with rage, rushed over to Howard and grabbed him by the collar, his veins bulging with anger. “Why did you change the prescription? Why did you harm Jaslene?”
“I…” Howard was so terrified that he felt weak all over.
“Daddy!” Fiona suddenly interrupted and walked over to George. “We’ve made such a big mistake; let’s take him back first. I’ll question him personally. I won’t let the one who harmed Grandma get away with it!”
Howard glanced at Fiona, seeming to realize something, and lowered his head in defeat. He knew that now his only way out was Fiona.
He thought, ‘Fiona was the apple of the Banks family’s eye. Even if I exposed her, they’d probably forgive her and turn their anger towards me. Better to help her keep this under wraps; she might throw me a lifeline to avoid being implicated herself!”
George took a few deep breaths and calmed down at his daughter’s suggestion. He tossed the battered Howard to the ground and then turned to Shakira, his face serious, and bowed his head slightly. “Sorry, Dr. Lonely Bird, for the injustice you’ve suffered.”
Being a seasoned businessman, he knew when to be flexible and when to hold firm. If he had wrongly accused someone, he should apologize.
With that, he told the Banks family’s bodyguards who were with him, “Take him with us, we’re leaving!”
“Wait a minute,” Shakira said.
Fiona glared at Shakira angrily. “My dad has already apologized, what else do
you
want?”
She was so close, almost succeeding in getting rid of Shakira! But unexpectedly, Shakira managed to turn the tables at the last moment!
Shakira me?”
gave her a brief glance and then focused on Howard, who was lying weakly on the floor. “Who sent you to frame
Howard kept his head down, his face pale, staying silent and refusing to speak.
Shakira smiled again. “It’s fine if you don’t talk. Just a couple of days ago, whoever left that coffee stain on your lab coat is the real culprit.”
Both Howard and Fiona’s expressions changed suddenly!
“Coffee stain? What’s that supposed to mean?” Michael asked, puzzled.
Shakira quietly explained, “The day Mr. Jones came over with Howard to greet me, I noticed a coffee stain on the hem of Howard’s lab coat.”
Kevin suddenly remembered. “Yes, you kindly showed him how to clean it, yet he changed the prescription to frame you!” He glared angrily at Howard.
