Chapter 260 

Early in the morning, Cody was awakened by an urgent call from the PR department. When he saw that his company had shot up to the second spot on the trending list, with a flood of mocking below, he was quite exploded. 

“A bunch of ungrateful people!” Cody grumbled. 

He added. “The company had a tough year, so the annual party budget was put into their year–end bonuses. They caused a fuss, rallying troublemaking netizens to mock. I spent a lot on them, but they’re nothing but ingrates.” 

Cody’s outburst woke everyone in the mansion. Still wearing pajamas, they gathered in the living room, their sleepiness overshadowed by worry. 

Finn looked particularly upset, continuously calling friends who work in the media, hoping they could get the discussion colder. 

Yvette stared intently at her phone, watching the relentless criticism labeling her as a fake daughter and some mockery. With her head lowered, no one could see the cold hatred burning in her eyes. 

Selena didn’t understand the online, but she had already received calls from her friends early that morning. They were concerned about the Nelson family’s situation and even asked if they were on the verge of collapse. Selena nearly shouted in 

anger. 

Tapping her cane, Selena declared furiously, “We’re not done. Find those employees causing trouble online and punish them severely.” 

Selena thought, ‘With Christmas Day approaching, they brought such disgrace to Nelson Group. It’s best to fire them. 

“We can’t do anything about netizens‘ comments,” Finn said after hanging up the call. “It’s not someone who is purposely stirring things up. They discuss it spontaneously. 

“There are so many topics about us, and the popularity has already declined since last night. My friend suggests not to pay attention to it. After a couple of days, new hot topics will come up, and this will be forgotten. 

“As for those employees posting comments-” Finn said seriously, “They have freedom of speech, and every comment is anonymous. If we find them, it could be more harmful to us.” 

Selena was upset. “Are we just going to ignore this?” Cody looked over, not saying a word, but his expression clearly showed he was not pleased. 

At this point, Yvette suddenly spoke up, “If we punish the employees for this, they might become unhappy and spread more rumors to damage the company’s reputation.” 

Her voice was soft and cool, capturing everyone’s attention. “Dad, Finn has always been generous with the company staff, especially those long–term, loyal employees. 

“Our benefits and salaries are among the best in Crescentville. I think that being grateful is a basic virtue everyone should have. Since they’ve received so much from the company, how could they harm its reputation? 

“I think we need to pay attention to employees who lack integrity. If someone’s character is questionable, it might show in their work. 

“We give them great benefits, but they can’t work with full dedication. Shouldn’t we consider firing such unsuitable employees?” 

Cody’s eyes sparkled with appreciation as he looked at Yvette. He spoke softly, “Yvette’s right. We treat them well, yet they don’t give back and even embarrass the company.

“Finn, maybe we should have someone keep an eye on them, and if they can’t meet their targets, we should let them go That way, we’re not being unfair to them” 

Finn slightly frowned, clearly not fully agreeing with Cody’s opinion However, seeing his father was determined, he could only follow. “Alright, I’ll have HR deal with them.” 

“That’s right, we can’t handle those online critics, but we can fire our employees.” Selena finally breathed a sigh of rehef her eyes filled with satisfaction as she looked at Yvette. 

Selena added, “Yvette, you’re smart. You know how to help take care of the company’s issues with your dad and your brother.” 

Yvette blinked her red eyes. “I just can’t bear the company being treated like a joke.” She lowered her head quietly, her voice filled with disappointment. 

“And netizens always said I’m nothing compared to Shakira. I can’t do anything well and even get the Nelson family into trouble,” said Yvette.
