The True Heiress's Return novel Chapter 29

Chapter 29
Yvette’s expression turned strange as she reluctantly took the button, shoving it carelessly into her pocket. “What’s Shakira doing at the hospital?”
“How would I know? I told her to come and apologize to you, but she had the nerve to-Jessie suddenly cut herself off, her face turning livid. She didn’t continue.
After a pause, Jessie added, “Is that necklace Shakira wore when she was in Belaris still with you? You should wear it when you get back.”
“That’s just a temporary fix! Am I supposed to spend my whole life using the trash Shakira throws away?” Yvette was frustrated.
“I know you don’t like using her things, but what else can we do? Ever since Shakira had turned rebellious, Yvette’s luck had taken a nosedive, one bad thing after another. It was fate.
Yvette’s face twisted with bitterness and resentment. “Why does Shakira have such a blessed life, while I’m stuck with all this bad luck? This is so unfair-
Jessie quickly covered her mouth before she could say more crazy things. “Don’t talk nonsense. With me, your dad, and your grandpa, you’re the one with good fortune. Just hold on for a bit longer. We’ll find a way to deal with her!”
Inside the Maybach, the atmosphere was stifling. Walter had come up empty-handed and was in a foul mood. This tall man, well over six feet, sat there like an iceberg, his cold aura chilling anyone who dared to approach.
Shakira, basking in the icy air, was quietly lost in thought when her phone suddenly pinged with a message. Sean had sent a news link with an accompanying rant. [Damn! That woman’s got no shame!]
Shakira clicked on the link, raising an eyebrow slightly. It was a video uploaded by Yvette, using the official Nelson Group
account
The video showed Yvette, wearing a hospital gown, her face pale and fragile. Her eyes were still red from crying, a picture of pitiful beauty.
She apologized to the public, explaining the forced circumstances behind her plagiarism and even offered an apology to
Shakira.
In the comment section below, it was clear that either the Nelson family or the Smith family had hired an army of trolls, with people showering Yvette with praise for her selflessness and sacrifice for the sake of her family.
Shakira’s face remained expressionless as she watched the video for a moment before closing it.
Sean sent another message: [Unbelievable! Some people in the comments are even saying you’ve forgiven her! What a joke!] Shakira was about to respond when Brian suddenly turned around from the front, addressing Walter. “Mr. Lopez, team couldn’t recover the hospital’s surveillance footage.”
“If our team can’t do it, let someone else handle it,” Walter sneered. “Looks like that doctor has got some skills.”
Brian understood immediately. “I’ll post a task on the internet.”
Shakira remained silent.
z, our tech
She had thought they’d given up, but it turned out they were still trying to recover the footage after all this time. Fortunately, she had been thorough and completely destroyed the video’s contents. If not, they might have succeeded

Chapter 29
She quickly sent a message-to Sean, who was still complaining about Yvette. [Keep an eye on the hacker forums. If you see a high-paying job to recover footage, take it!
Sean: [What? Wait, boss, can we put making money aside for a second and focus on cursing that woman together?]
Shakira: No.]
On the other end of the phone, Sean clutched his chest. He felt like all his indignation had been wasted.
Shakira watched the angry emojis sent by Sean and turned off her phone. Just as she let out a quiet sigh, she felt a chill at the back of her neck.
Feigning confusion, she glanced at the icy-faced Walter. “Mr. Lopez, do you need to see a doctor? Is something wrong?”
Walter shot a glance at the seemingly innocent Shakira. “You know the answer already.”
Clearing her throat, Shakira replied, “But I’m here, Mr. Lopez. You don’t need to find anyone else to treat your legs. You can
count on me!”
Walter scoffed. “If I count on you, I might have to take you to my grave when I die, since it’ll take forever for you to fix my legs
Shakira was taken aback by Walter’s meanness. Brian, sitting in front of them, was also shocked by Walter’s words. He always knew Walter could be mean, especially when he was in a bad mood.
Yet, he seemed to show some reluctance to let Shakira go, saying that he might have to take her to his grave, as if he didn’t want to part with her,
Shakira was furing; if she knew what Brian was thinking, she would surely be more furious.
As soon as they returned to the villa, Sean sent over a screenshot Walter had offered a staggering 100 million dollars to restore a video.
Shakira thought about how Finn had once paid 30 million dollars to help Yvette find a kidney and scoffed. She instructed Sean to take the offer and promised to complete the task within three days.
That night, Shakira waited for Walter to emerge from his study and quickly followed him. Walter had already lost his temper during a meeting, and when he saw her approaching, he shot her a sideways glance. “What do you want now?”
“I’m here to help with your legs. We’ve wasted enough time; why not start today?” said Shakira.
Initially, she intended to wait until his episode to offer her assistance, but she realized that, despite his facade of indifference, he was troubled badly by his paralyzed legs.
After all, Walter had once been very vibrant and proud.
Walter wanted to refuse her, but as he looked up and saw her bright, expectant eyes, the words he had meant to say caught in his throat. Instead, he blurted out, “Go to the bedroom.”
“Okay!” Surprised that he didn’t reject her with harsh words again, Shakira smiled happily.
‘She’s that happy about helping me with my legs? Walter thought to himself as he maneuvered his wheelchair and headed towards the bedroom. Behind him, he could hear Shakira skipping along cheerfully.
What he didn’t realize was that a faint smile had appeared at the corner of his lips.
Shakira dragged over a small stool and sat in front of Walter. She reached out towards his ankles, but the wheelchair immediately slid two feet back.

Walter frowned. “What are you trying to do?”
Shakira patiently explained, “I need to assess the condition first. It’s the basics-observe, ask, and feel the pulse. To treat your legs, I have to take a look at them.”
Walter, however, made an unreasonable demand. “Treat them from here.”
Shakira’s patience instantly vanished. “What part of your body haven’t I seen? You really think I’m trying to take advantage of you?”
She stuck out her tongue after saying that, because She had lied. Although she had shared an intimate moment with Walter before, the room had been pitch black that night, and the effects of the drug meant she hadn’t really seen him at all.
is permission, rolled u “You!” Before Walter could finish, Shakira scooted her stool closer and, without waiting for his pant legs.
She tutted inwardly. From the knees down, Walter’s legs were well-proportioned, long and slender. Unfortunately, after half a year in a wheelchair, his muscles had noticeably atrophied.
