C Chapter 70
Walter actually propped himself up on his arms and sat up by himself.
Shakira trotted out from the bathroom, her heart leaping to her throat at the sight of him, looking like he could fall back down at any moment.
“Don’t move!” she rushed over to support his back, “You’re so weak now, why are you sitting up?”
Walter narrowed his eyes dangerous
“Who are you calling weak?”
“It’s me. I’m weak, okay?” Shakira sneered. ‘Seriously, still keeping score at a time like this!
Walter glanced at the towel in her hand and snatched it to press against his face.
Shakira was too late to stop him. “Walter, don’t-”
She had just wiped herself with this towel without washing it!
The cool towel wiped away the sweat on his face, making Walter feel much refreshed.
He looked at Shakira’s strange expression and said, “I wanted to wipe off the sweat, is there a problem?”
Shakira silently closed her open mouth. “No, no problem.”
Anyway, he had already wiped with it. If I mentioned now that I had used the towel on my stomach and chest, this demon would probably jump up and strangle me. It’s better that only I knows about this,’ thought she.
Walter wiped his face a couple of times and threw the towel back to her. “You ran out without wringing out the water,” He raised an eyebrow, his voice dropping slightly, “Are you worried about me so much?”
Shakira was speechless.
She moved her lips, but in the end, she swallowed the words back. Without complaint, she went in, fetched a basin of water, and wiped Walter down again.
Watching her bow her head, diligently wiping his arm, not even missing a single finger.
Walter watched her quietly.
She had come in a hurry, her hair simply tucked behind her ears, cascading down her back like a waterfall, with a few playful strands sticking to her cheeks, outlining her face. Her nightgown was thin, barely covering her skin, highlighting her beautiful figure.
It was the first time Walter had seen her with her hair down. He always thought her face was not big to begin with, about the size of his palm. Now with her hair down, it seemed to make her face look even smaller? Her skin was fair, her eyebrows and eyes gentle.
Walter was softened unconsciously and said, “You save my life again.”
Shakira lifted his pajama top, her gaze falling on the man’s well-defined abs, without changing expression. “There will be a
next time.”
Walter smiled slightly, neither confirming nor denying. After catching sight of the syringe by the bedside, a touch of self- mockery tugging at the corner of his lips. “These meds, they’re starting to become ineffective too.”
Shakira’s movements paused, then continued and said, “You won’t need these meds when you’re better.”

Walter gazed at her and said, “You’re so confident.”
This time, Shakira looked up, meeting his gaze head-on. The man’s face was reflected in the woman’s clear eyes.
“Walier, I will do my utmost to cure you,” said Shakira.
Walter’s smile grew more brighter. “Fine,” said he. This time, he did not continue to refuse her.
Shakira also smiled. After simply drying Walter’s sweat, Shakira also found him a new set of pajamas, helping him change his top, as for the pants….
She turned her back and said, “You change it yourself, I won’t peek.”
Walter hummed, followed by the sound of rustling cloth. But Shakira soon discovered…there was actually a reflection on the floor-to-ceiling window!
It clearly and distinctly showed Walter’s long legs after he took off his pants, and further up was…
Shakira quickly lowered her head, pretending to busy herself with the syringe to divert her attention.
She casually picked up the opened medicine and examined it, curious about the ingredients.
But the packaging was blank, with no details specified.
Shakira held the packaging to her nose and took a gentle sniff.
Then, she frowned.
“What are you doing?” said Walter.
Shakira turned around and said, “Was this painkiller prescribed for you?”
Walter glanced and said, “Fiona’s medical team give it to me.”
“The doctor who just gave you the injection, is he also from her team?”
“Yeah, I’ve tried many methods, the only thing that works is this painkiller. What you saw in the medical room before, that’s it, but I replaced them after the power outage.”
Walter was good at reading people and noticed a subtle change in her expression, “What’s wrong?”
Shakira shook her head. “No, I’d like to take it for research, can I? Besides acupuncture, I also need to prescribe medication for you. Later, your people can test it first, and you can take it when the medicine is confirmed to be fine.”
Walter looked at her serious little face and said, “Okay.”
Late at night, the study in the Smith residence was still brightly lit.
Lago viciously threw the milk that Jessie had sent onto the floor.
Jessie was so frightened that she covered her face, “Ah!”
“That little brat, daring to try to stir up trouble for the Nelson family!” Lago’s gaunt face was filled with rage, twisted and terrifying.
“I should have found someone more capable to destroy her that time!” said he.
Chapter 70
Jessie was shocked. “That time? You took action against Shakira, when?”
Lago, with a face full of anger, said irritably, “Why do you need to know so much, woman?”
“I’m worried that the people you sent might no happen to our Yvette?”
know their limits. What if, just in case, they hurt her kidneys, what will
“what? They didn’t even touch her hair!” Thinking about that incident made Lago angry, and he kicked the table again.

“Cody Nelson and Finn Nelson must be insane to believe her nonsense, and they even asked me to give them all the detailed background checks on the project! Am I their dog?”
Yvette, on the computer screen’s video call, saw Lago over there smashing things and losing his temper in a fit of impotent rage, and she was quite disdainful.
“Of course they don’t believe Shakira, but no.
Shakira has Mr. Lopez as a backer, they think Shakira heard the news from him.” Mentioning Walter, Yvette’s eyes showed a complex array of emotions.
“No wonder! That wretched girl has messed up my plans again and again, and she was also the one who caused the death of that old hag!” Lago’s eyes were almost bursting with crimson hatred.
“What’s a little treatment cost? Didn’t you also say that as long as we get this project, we can make at least 30 million dollars?” Yvette said leisurely from the other side, “Just find a way to get the information out to Dad and big brother, wouldn’t that be fine?”
In fact, Lago had his eye on this project first.
Unfortunately, the Smith family doesn’t have the capability. To take on such a large-scale project, their competitiveness is far behind others in the industry.
That was why Lago asked Yvette to help persuade the Nelson family to get involved.
Although they wouldn’t get the lion’s share, they could still get a slice of the pie.
Lago was embarrassed and said, “It’s not that I won’t give the information, but… that project indeed has risks. I’m afraid that once the Nelson family knows, they will weigh the pros and cons and withdraw.”
Yvette became suspicious andquestioned, “Lago, you’re not trying to trick me, are you?”
“How could I? I would harm anyone but not my precious daughter!” Lago changed to a flattering and humble tone when speaking to Yvette, “Yvette, believe Dad, this risk is just a little bit. It’s just that people in the construction industry like to exaggerate it. Don’t worry, Dad will think of something.”
“Hurry up!” Yvette lost her patience and ended the call directly.
Lago and Jessie asked her to call them Dad and Mom, claiming it sounded better and more fashionable than calling them in the Nelson family.
Yvette just felt it disgusted.
