Shakira maintained a neutral expression, calmly recounting, “Lago didn’t secure Southville Project and racked up huge debts. When enemies came knocking, he was afraid it would implicate Grandma Shi, so he asked me to come here to find him. He entrusted me with Grandma Shi’s medical expenses for the year.”
After hearing this, Mitchell was furious, pacing back and forth. “This sounds like nonsense. How could you believe him?”
“I don’t believe him, but I want to try,” Shakira turned her head, coldlyin

Mitchell frowned tightly, “That’s Lago’s own mother. If he doesn’t care, why should you?”
“Ha!” Shakira let out a cold laugh. “In both the Nelson family and the Smith family, the only person who has truly treated me well since childhood is Grandma Shi.”
Mitchell trembled at her words.
Shakira continued to look at him, noticing his somewhat flustered expression. “I can’t help her much. If I don’t even try, what’s the difference between me and that heartless Lago?”
Mitchell looked stunned. After a while, he quietly said, “I’m sorry!”
“I don’t need your apology, and you don’t need to apologize to me,” Shakira said, each word piercing like a needle into Mitchell’s heart. “I honestly don’t care how you think of me, so it’s unnecessary!” In front of so many people, Shakira was quite harsh on Mitchell.
Walter’s gaze was deep as he watched Shakira without saying anything. However, Calton and Gavin, unaware of the situation, disagreed.
“Ms. Nelson, that’s a bit too much. You were in danger last night, and it was Mitchell who found Walter, allowing you to be saved. You didn’t see the scene; he rushed in, grabbing Walter as if he wanted to drag him to you.”
Shakira raised an eyebrow. Some of her memories from last night were hazy; she didn’t remember that part with Mitchell “You helped me last night?”
Mitchell straightened up, finally finding his confidence in front of her. “Jessie helped you out of the elevator. I noticed you

“So that’s how it was!” Shakira turned to him, genuinely thanking him. “Thank you, Mitchell.”
“You don’t have to be so polite with me…”
Shakira said, “I keep my private and public lives separate. You’ve helped me a lot, so of course I’ll return the favor.”
“Really, no need…”
“It’s fine if you can’t think of anything right now. Just let me know when you do,” Shakira firmly left a note, “I don’t want to owe you anything.”
Mitchell, who wanted to refuse again, opened his mouth but found it hard to respond, Clearly, it was a serious matter that -nearly damaged his reputation, yet he still drew a clear line between himself and Shakira, making him feel even more embarrassed. “Alright, when I think of something later, I’ll tell you.” A bitter smile appeared on his face, and Shakira, observing his emotions, didn’t care at all. It was one thing that he saved her once.
But that didn’t mean she would feel any sympathy for him.
Mitchell quickly composed himself and looked at Brian. At that moment, a layer of ruthlessness and gloom shadowed his

face. “Where is that Donavan? If he dares to… to Shakira, I won’t let him go!”

Brian didn’t answer right away but glanced at Walter. When Walter, Brian continued, “Donavan threw a tantrum at the hotel last night and only left this morning.”

“You had a part in this hotel, right?” Mitchell turned to Walter, his eyes “I want the surveillance footage from last night.”
“What do you want to do with it?”
Mitchell gritted his teeth, “I want to send him to the police!””
“On what grounds do you think your can send him in?”
Hearing this, Shakira laughed before Walter could respond. “What does having the footage even mean? What can it prove? Can it show how they used me for a transaction? How they sent me into Donavan’s room?”
Mitchell stared in disbelief, “Are you really going to let it go like this?!”
“Who said I was going to let it go? Mitchell, when are you going to start using your brain?” Shakira sarcastically retorted.
“I-”
“Mitchell, this evidence really isn’t very useful.” Kyle, who had been silent, finally spoke. His voice was gentle but carried a heavy pressure. “If this matter goes public, it will only subject Ms. Nelson to more rumors. They won’t suffer any damage.”
Mitchell immediately understood and felt regretful. “Sorry, I was too impulsive.”
Walter looked at Shakira with a serious expression. “How do you want to handle this?”
Shakira met Walter’s gaze and raised an eyebrow. “Are you going to help me?”
“Last night, I was also one of the victims. What do you think?”
Shakira’s face flushed, nearly cursing him out. How dare Walter say he was a victim! Did he have no shame? She had a plan in mind but didn’t want to show her hand too clearly, so she obediently lowered her head. “I’ll listen to you, Young Master.
Walter smiled slightly. “In that case, let’s do it my way.” He waved his hand, and Brian understood, leaving the room. “The matter has been resolved; we’ll take our leave.”
Walter glanced at Shakira, who stepped forward and pushed his wheelchair out of the suite.
The remaining few exchanged blank stares.
“Wait, are we just leaving? Aren’t we waiting to see what happens next?” Calton was not happy. He hadn’t gone home all night just to watch a show, and now it felt like the show wasn’t even finished yet! What a letdown.
Gavin, however, was indifferent. “Don’t worry, you’ll hear news soon enough. Walter is not someone who keeps a low profile.”
Lago paced around the house all day, feeling extremely restless. There was no news from Shakira, Donavan was cursing him and demanding repayment, and those debt collectors had already tracked him down to the entrance of the community. He felt completely surrounded, as if he were losing his mind!
Jessie came crying down from upstairs. “What should we do, darling? Yvette isn’t answering the phone. What should we do- huh?” As she approached Lago, she was brutally slapped to the ground by him.
“Useless thing, you can’t even keep an eye on one person!” Lago was angry and excited, punching and kicking her. “If it

weren’t for you, I would have paid off the debt long ago! What kind of sin did I commit in my past life to end up with such bad luck marrying you!”
Jessie cried out in pain, her hair viciously pulled by Lago, with no chance to hide.
At that moment, Lago’s assistant called. “Mr. Smith, Mr. Blondel’s company has been found guilty of violating regulations, tax evasion, and hiding over a hundred million. He has already been taken in for review; he probably won’t be out for decades!”

Lago’s violent actions froze, and he was in a daze for a while. Then he laughed with a sense of relief. “Heaven is still helping me! Heaven is on my side! Donavan is finished, and that money we traded privately wasn’t notarized. I don’t have to pay it back!”
Jessie, bloodied and bruised, got up from the ground, her mouth bleeding, and she laughed along. “That’s great! Oh, darling, we’re saved…”
Just as she finished speaking, the door of the Smith family was suddenly kicked open.
The couple’s faces changed in an instant as they looked over-
