Chapter 10 

The giri blocked the doorway, giving Cecilia a scornful look with her chin raised slightly. 

“You’re not a student of the music department. You are not allowed to enter!” 

After saying that, she immediately complained to Howard, “Mr. Lewis, this woman isn’t from the music department, but she has a student card. She must have stolen it!” 

Another girl chimed in, saying, “Mr. Lewis, she must have other intentions for coming to the recording studio complex. Maybe she’s here to steal others‘ songs!” 

Although Howard didn’t know all the students, he was in charge of academic affairs. 

He remembered students who did well in their studies or looked good. 

After making sure that he hadn’t seen Cecilia before, he believed what the two girls said. 

He worried that Christopher could misunderstand the lax management of the music department, so he stared at Cecilia with a very unkind look and spoke to her sternly. 

“Who are you? What are you doing in the recording studio complex of the music department?” 

Cecilia waved the student card in her hand. “I’m from the music department. Naturally, I came to the recording studio complex to record a song.” 

Seeing her calm face, Howard suspected that he might have made a mistake. 

To avoid embarrassing himself in front of Christopher, he softened his attitude and reached out his hand to Cecilia. 

“Give me your student card.”

As soon as he finished speaking, a girl forcefully snatched the student card from Cecilia’s hand. 

The stiff edge of the card cut her through the skin on her fingers. 

A thin line of blood appeared on her tanned fingers. 

Cecilia narrowed her eyes and was about to fight back when the girl burst into laughter. 

“Are you that dumb? If you’re gonna steal a student card, pick someone who at least resembles you a bit. How dare you steal the student card from Cecilia, the country bumpkin? Are you instead afraid we won’t notice the difference between you two?” 

After taunting Cecilia, she handed the student card to Howard. 

“Mr. Lewis, the evidence is clear now. She stole this student card. Theft is a criminal offense. We can report it to the police for further action.” 

Hearing this, Yvette burst into laughter. 

When she was about to speak up for Cecilia, a stern look from Cecilia stopped her. 

Cecilia raised her eyebrows at the girl and said, “Then call the police. Slander is also against the law.” 

The girl scoffed dismissively. “Fine, call the police. Let’s see if you’re still acting tough when the police arrive!” 

After saying that, she took out her phone and was ready to call the police. 

Howard suddenly felt a strong chill and couldn’t help but shiver. 

Knowing that Christopher was unhappy, he shouted, “Shut up!” He quickly glanced at the student card and confirmed the name on it. Then he became furious. 

He had no good impressions of Cecilia because seventy percent of the scandals at Quilton University came from her.

Her record was filled with too many misdeeds to list. 

If the Yancey family had not donated a swimming pool and also donated money to the school every year, Cecilia would have been expelled by him long ago! 

Now, Howard’s impression of Cecilia was even worse. 

Because if Cecilia hadn’t lost her student card, it wouldn’t have created an opportunity for others to take advantage of the situation, which in turn drew Christopher’s ire and jeopardized Howard’s efforts to gain investments from Christopher. 

He looked at Cecilia and shouted, “This time, I’ll think of it as if you found the student card. Leave now. If you steal again, I’ll take you to the police station.”

Howard perceived this as a deliberate provocation and his expression turned even more unpleasant. 

“Since you asked for it, don’t blame me for not giving you a second chance.” 

After saying that, he took out his phone and called the security department. 

Yet, before the number could be dialed, Christopher snatched the student card from Howard’s hand. 

Christopher looked at the student card and then at Cecilia. 

“It does indeed look quite different.” 

After saying that, he walked to Cecilia and gave her the student card. 

“Is your hand okay?” he asked.

She warned, “Next time, I’ll cut your face instead of the back of your hand.” 

Seeing this, Christopher’s lips curved into a faint smile. 

This was the girl he liked! 

Yvette caught a glimpse of Christopher’s smile, and her eyes almost widened in surprise. 

She thought, “It turns out that ‘Mr. Poker Face‘ can smile! Wait a minute. Could it be that this man is attracted to Ceci’s beauty and is now trying to be a cradle robber?” 

Thinking of this, she immediately walked to Cecilia and blocked Christopher’s line of sight. 

Christopher looked at Yvette, who was in the way of his gaze, and his face darkened. 

Yvette’s legs suddenly went weak. She immediately grabbed Cecilia’s arm to prevent herself from falling. 

She said inwardly, “This man is too scary. I can’t let Ceci walk straight into the tiger’s den!” 

With this in mind, she summoned her courage and took another step to cover Cecilia completely. 

However, she kept her head lowered, avoiding the icy gaze of Christopher. 

At that moment, the girl, whose hand had been cut on the back, finally realized what had happened. She pointed at Cecilia and shouted in a sharp voice, “You hurt me on purpose!”

Cecilia cast a cold gaze at the girl and said, “Withdraw your hand.” 

The girl. frightened by Cecilia’s gaze, immediately put her hand down. 

Cecilia pulled her arm free from Yvette’s grasp, swiped her student card to unlock the door of the recording studio complex, and went inside. 

It wasn’t until the door was closed that a rather bewildered Howard finally returned to his senses. 

He mused, “What did Mr. Forte mean just now? Is he interested in that girl? But she stole Cecilia’s student card and was caught in front of all the students!” 

If he did not take it seriously, how could he become the vice–chancellor? 

Yet, if he took action, he was sure to offend Christopher. 

When Howard was in a dilemma, the girl who had been cut by Cecilia asked him for justice. 

“Mr. Lewis, you can’t just stand by and watch our school’s students being bullied by outsiders! Moreover, not just anyone can enter the recording studio complex. What if song ideas get stolen? If this matter is not dealt with seriously, how will the school handle such situations in the future?” 

What she said was reasonable, and the students echoed in 

agreement. 

As vice–chancellor, Howard had to prioritize the school’s rules and regulations first, even if it meant offending Christopher. 

He immediately called the security department and said, “Someone broke in…” 

Before he could finish his words, Christopher snatched his phone and smashed it on the ground. 

“Mr. Lewis, you should get your eyes checked first,” said

Howard was speechless. 

Christopher publicly embarrassed him, leaving him in an uncomfortable position. 

Just as he was trying to find a way out of the situation, Yvette said, “Mr. Lewis, that girl just now is indeed Cecilia.” 

Everyone was stunned to hear that. 

If Yvette wasn’t part of the Yates family, she would have been scolded mercilessly by now. 

Everyone collectively wondered if that stunning beauty from earlier was the same Cecilia who always kept her head down like a common quail.

The girl said, “Ms. Yates, even if you want to take her side, shouldn’t you be honest? We’ve seen Cecilia before! Don’t you think we all know what she looks like?” 

Yvette jumped in before anyone else could speak and asked, “So, tell me, what does Cecilia look like?” 

“She has long straight hair with bangs like a lid. She is plain and unattractive!” the girl answered. 

“I was asking about her appearance!” Yvette stressed. 

The girl who was speaking suddenly stumbled because she only remembered Cecilia’s demeanor but hadn’t noticed her 

appearance. 

She stammered, “A–Anyway, she’s just not a beauty!” 

Howard had seen Cecilia many times because of the scandals and remembered her appearance. 

Despite her long bangs almost covering her eyes every time he saw her, he could still see her face clearly.
