Chapter 148
Fiona had been a journalist for more than ten years, and she started her career as a war correspondent.
In her pursuit of major news, she encountered countless dangers.
Even if the situation was not good for her at the moment, she didn’t panic.
The approaching footsteps made her tense up and ready to attack.
The woman looked at Fiona hiding behind the body coldly. She aimed the gun at the man’s waist and pulled the trigger. The bullet penetrated the man’s waist, hitting Fiona’s curled–up leg.
Fortunately, the kinetic energy of the bullet was not strong enough and only hurt her leg. It did not get embedded in the flesh and fell to the ground.
Even so, she gasped in pain.
The woman heard the noise and continued to shoot at one spot.
Fiona guessed her movements in advance and shifted her position.
The bullet grazed her back and hit the steel container.
Thinking of the last bullet left in the woman’s gun, she let go of her shield and lunged at the woman.
The woman looked at Fiona and shot her in the heart.
Fiona bent down a little and the bullet hit her shoulder.
The severe pain only made her pause slightly and then she continued to rush toward the woman.
They soon fought each other.

Fiona had been bullied a little ruthlessly, and with her injuries, she had been at a disadvantage.
However, she had a Taser in her hand. The woman threw in the towel and played a game of cat and mouse.
She knew a stalemate would result in her winning.
Fiona knew the woman’s intention, but she couldn’t change her situation.
At this moment, she felt dizzy due to excessive blood loss. Perhaps she would faint in less than five minutes.
She didn’t want to die, so with a desperate determination, she planned to confront women.
At this time, Yvette was stopped by Anthony in the underground passage of Ackleton Road.
She had been to Skyhaven Club several times and had met Anthony once. She knew he was Christopher’s man.
Therefore, she didn’t drive straight into him.
She lowered the window and said anxiously, “Mr. Xanders, get out of my way. I have something urgent to deal with.”
If she continued to waste time, she would not be able to reach Lommore Bridge in half an hour.
“Ms. Yates, Mr. Christopher Forte asked me to come here. Get out of the car.”
Yvette thought Christopher was trying to stop her from saving Fiona. She stepped on the accelerator and brake at the same time, causing the sports car to emit a menacing roar.
It was as if the next moment the car would start and knock Anthony away.
“I’ll say it for the last time. Get out of my way! Otherwise, I…” She was abruptly cut off when she saw another person.

dressed in identical clothes and had similar bloodstains on her chiffon shirt. Even her manner of walking mirrored hers.
If Yvette hadn’t seen it with her own eyes, she wouldn’t have believed that someone could look just like her.
It wouldn’t be an exaggeration to say that she was her spitting image.
While she was so shocked that she lost her focus, Anthony came to the sports car and opened the door.
“Ms. Yates, get out of the car. She’ll go to Lommore Bridge instead.”
Yvette came back to her senses and looked at the girl who looked exactly like her with shock in her eyes.
“Who is she? Why does she look so much like me?”
“Mr. Christopher Forte’s subordinate made up to look like you. Get out of the car. We’re running out of time.”
Yvette didn’t want to implicate others because she was afraid that there would be no return from this trip.
She shook her head and refused, “I’ll go myself.”
As soon as she finished speaking, Anthony got into the car, unfastened Yvette’s seat belt, and pulled her out.
The woman pretending to be her took out her phone from her pocket, got in the car, and left.
Things happened so fast that when Yvette came back to her senses, she only saw the car speeding away.
She looked at Anthony angrily and asked, “What are you doing?”
“Ms. Yates, Mr. Christopher Forte ordered us to execute the swap. You’re going into a tiger’s den. Only Mr. Christopher Forte’s people will have a chance of winning.”
Anthony’s words were true, and she could not refute them. She got into Anthony’s car and went back to the city.

Sitting in the back seat, she asked worriedly, “Mr. Xanders, can Mr. Forte save my sister?”
“I can only say that it’s more probable than the likelihood of you saving your sister.”
Knowing that it was not easy to save Fiona, Yvette stopped asking nonsense.
She stared anxiously at the time on the dashboard.
After a long time, she said, “The half hour is up.”
As she said this, the fake Yvette had arrived at Lommore Bridge.
Once the sports car reached the bridge, it abruptly came to a halt, its tires screeching and leaving long black streaks on the pavement.
At the same time, the phone in the glove box rang.
The fake Yvette answered the phone and said anxiously, “I’m coming. Let my sister go.”
Her voice was not like Yvette’s. If it was face–to–face
communication, she would be exposed as soon as she spoke. However, there was no problem at all in communicating by phone because Christopher had implanted voice–changing software in Yvette’s phone.
A male robotic voice came from the other end of the phone, the malice in his tone evident.
“I only said that if you don’t want anything to happen to your sister, come to Lommore Bridge. I didn’t say I would let her go.”
“What do I have to do for you to let my sister go?”
“You are not qualified to negotiate with me. Come to the chemical plant across the bridge.”
The fake Yvette looked at the chemical plant not far away and said, “If you don’t release my sister, I’ll go back the way I came”

The male robotic voice continued, “Come to the chemical plant and I will let her go.”
“You’ve set me up. Do you think I’ll believe in your nonsense? If you don’t let go of her, I’ll leave now.”
After saying that, the fake Yvette got in the sports car and turned it around, looking as if she was about to leave.
