Worried that Cecilia would misunderstand, Evan hurriedly explained, “I don’t mean to interfere with your relationship; I just think it’s not appropriate for you to get pregnant while still
studying. You must take proper measures.”
After saying that, he coughed awkwardly, and even his ears turned red.
He wasn’t supposed to be the one saying this, but only he and Aiden were similar in age to her in the Shaw family.
Aiden was a blockhead and certainly wouldn’t think about this aspect. If Evan didn’t say it, no one else would.
Elaine was already too elderly to get involved in the
relationships of the youngsters.
Cecilia rarely saw Evan being this shy, so she purposely pretended not to understand and asked sincerely, “What measures?”
Evan froze upon facing Cecilia’s curious gaze.
“How am I supposed to say this?” he thought in bewilderment. “Just… um… use… birth… control…” His face flushed red as he forced those words out of him.
Disregarding whether or not Cecilia heard him, he hastily urged, “Go find the clothes. I’ll go have a look at the room.”
Then, he slipped into the room and shut himself in.
Watching as Evan seemingly ran for his life, Cecilia couldn’t help chortling.
Subsequently, she felt thoroughly moved.
Although she was not blood–related to the Shaw family, they were genuinely and unconditionally good to her.
No matter how trivial a matter was, they would consider it for

her, whereas the Yancey family… Well, they weren’t worth mentioning.
Cecilia went back to the bedroom, found Christopher’s clothes, and gave them to Evan.
She didn’t clarify that she wasn’t sleeping with Christopher because it was going to happen sooner or later anyway, so it wasn’t necessary to reveal.
“Evan, I’ve kept your earlier words in mind.”
The heat that had just subsided on Evan’s face instantly returned when he heard this.
“Ahem, that’s good, then.”
Cecilia continued, “I’ve obtained enough credits in school and can graduate at any time. I don’t plan to attend classes for senior year. I’ll just wait to receive the certificate when it’s time to graduate.”
Frankly, she didn’t need the certificate, as the diploma from the elite academy she previously attended was way more. significant.
Nevertheless, she liked finishing what she started.
Of course, Evan wouldn’t judge Cecilia’s plans for the future. “Do as you deem fit.”
Once he finished speaking, Christopher told them to go downstairs to eat.
When the two arrived downstairs, three plates of pasta were already served on the dining table.
The spaghetti was drenched in bright red bolognese sauce mixed with minced beef and garnished with chopped tomatoes, grated cheese, and mushrooms. Needless to say, it looked scrumptious.
Evan eyed Christopher in approval and praised, “Looks like you’re pretty good at cooking.”

He had intentionally told Christopher to make pasta because he feared the pampered scion was inept in the kitchen and would require Cecilia to wait on him in the future.
Even if Cecilia was willing to handle the cooking, Evan couldn’t bear to let her do so.
Christopher understood Evan’s thoughts and methods. “Have a taste, Evan. It’s more to Ceci’s liking, so I’m not sure if it’ll suit your palette. If you like it, I’ll cook more during your stay in Emerald Mansion to show you my skills.”
Evan would be very busy in the next few days, so he naturally wouldn’t keep staying in Emerald Mansion.
“I appreciate your kindness. This pasta is good enough. Just make breakfast for tomorrow will suffice.”
“Sure. What would you like to eat, Evan?”
Seeing them chatting endlessly, Cecilia reminded them, “If you guys don’t start eating, the pasta’s about to turn cold.”
Evan nodded. “Eat first. We’ll talk later.”
With that, he picked up the cutlery, twirled the spaghetti, and took a bite.
As expected, it was delicious. He gave Christopher a thumbs–up as his eyes brightened. “Not bad. Ceci will be blessed in the future.”
After eating, the trio went for a walk in the back garden to aid digestion.
Half an hour later, they returned to the living room of the main building.
Evan said, “Go to the police headquarters at four in the afternoon tomorrow to meet with the rest of the special operations unit. Afterward, we can discuss what to do next.”
He had to select the candidates for the unit in the morning. Half a day’s time was about sufficient for him to come to a

decision.
Christopher and Cecilia bobbed their heads and replied in unison, “Okay. We’ll be there on time.”
“All right, it’s getting late. Let’s go to bed.”
“Evan, come get me after you’re done with showering. I’ll help you apply the ointment,” reminded Cecilia.
“No need, I can do so in front of the mirror. Get an early rest, you two.”
Evan found the trauma ointment from the medical kit and went upstairs to the guest room.
His room was in the innermost area, but it was spacious, well–lit, and a distance away from the master bedroom.
Cecilia took the medical kit and returned to the bedroom with Christopher.
After closing the door, she put down the medical kit and unbuttoned Christopher’s shirt.
Previously, when she applied the ointment to Christopher, she didn’t smell blood, so she surmised his arm injury didn’t worsen.
Still, just in case, she thought it was best to check it out.
Yet, Christopher misunderstood her intentions. “Ceci, Evan surely hasn’t gone to bed yet. It’s not appropriate… for us to do it now, no?”
Moreover, this was so out of the blue that he wasn’t very comfortable.
He couldn’t really explain why; he simply felt that something was lacking if they made love now.
However, if Cecilia really wanted it, he naturally wouldn’t refuse.
It went without saying that Cecilia had no clue what Christopher had envisioned in his head as she took off his shirt

effortlessly.
Looking at the white gauze on his arm, she nodded with satisfaction. “Evan is still quite prudent. He deliberately avoided your injured arm during the fight.”
Her words were like a bucket of cold water, extinguishing Christopher’s surging lust.
He was rather nonplussed. “You took off my shirt just to see the wound on my arm?”
Knowing what Christopher was referring to earlier, Cecilia blinked teasingly.
