Chapter 167 

Christopher wanted to cook breakfast for Evan, so he woke up at dawn. 

He had only managed to sleep for about an hour, and now, dark circles had formed under his eyes, while his temples throbbed with fatigue. He got out of bed quietly, but his movement still woke Cecilia. 

“Ceci, it’s still early. You can sleep in. I’ll call you when the meal is ready.” 

Cecilia lifted the quilt and sat up, “I haven’t cooked for Evan for a long time. Let’s cook for him together.” 

“Okay, you know Evan’s preference. He will be satisfied with the food.” They washed up together, changed clothes together, and went downstairs to the kitchen. 

But Evan was already busy in the kitchen. 

When Evan saw Cecilia and Christopher, he said with a smile, “I’m not good at cooking, but I will definitely make sure everything is well cooked. Hopefully, you won’t find it tacky.” 

Cecilia knew how bad Evan was at cooking, so she hurriedly grabbed the kitchen knife from him. 

“Evan, I must say I’m not a fan of your culinary talents. Get out of here and stop wasting these ingredients!” 

Then she pushed Evan out of the kitchen. 

Christopher closed the door cooperatively and didn’t let Evan in again. 

Evan looked at the apron he was still wearing and knocked on the door. “Don’t you want to wear the apron?” 

“No.” 

With that, Cecilia unceremoniously shoved Christopher out of the 

kitchen, too. 

“You two help each other to apply the medicine. Breakfast will be ready shortly.” 

The two men looked at each other and knew they couldn’t get into the kitchen. So they sat down on the couch. 

Evan took off his apron and put it aside. 

He looked at the dark circles under Christopher’s eyes and asked, “Did

you not sleep well last night?” 

Christopher nodded. “Ceci had a nightmare last night. I am a light sleeper and woke up several times.” 

“Are you complaining?” 

“No, I just feel helpless that I can’t do anything even though I really want to share Ceci’s burden.” 

“Ceci knows her own mind. If she needs your help, she will take the initiative to say so. Otherwise, don’t push the issue.” 

Evan acknowledged Christopher, so he didn’t mind offering him some advice from time to time. 

“Thank you, Evan. I understand.” 

Christopher thanked Evan for his kind gesture, knowing Cecilia’s temper. They didn’t know each other very well, so there was nothing personal to talk about. 

It felt awkward to just sit idly by, so Christopher inquired about the special operations unit. 

We’ll talk about the details later when you and Ceci go to police headquarters this evening,” Evan said after giving Christopher a brief overview. 

“Okay.” 

“By the way, when are you going to Acocester?” 

“It should be two days later. Do you have any specific instructions?” Had he not recovered, Cecilia would have gone to Acocester. Evan said with a smile, “There are no specific instructions. Stop the formalities. I just wanted to know so I could make arrangements for Acocester.” 

He didn’t think the mastermind had the guts to go to Acocester. But if the mastermind was indeed Charlie, the seemingly impossible could become a reality. 

Not long after, the kitchen door opened. 

Cecilia called out, “Come in and have some breakfast. 

The two men stood up at the same time. Evan said, “Christopher, your arm is still hurt. Don’t bother bringing breakfast. Just take a seat at the dining table.”

Christopher looked into Evan’s determined eyes, which left no room for argument, and nodded in agreement. 

Soon, breakfast was served. 

Cecilia made it based on the ingredients prepared by Evan. It was not abundant, but it was enough for three people. 

Most importantly, it tasted good. 

Evan took a sip of the soup and nodded in satisfaction. “The taste is still the same. It still tastes good.” 

“Evan, if you like it, just drink more.” 

Cecilia ladled two more scoops of soup into Evan’s bowl. 

Evan left after breakfast. 

Christopher planned to go to the company. 

As he was about to leave for Acocester, he needed to take care of some things first and maximize his time with Cecilia. 

“Ceci, when you go out, remember to bring the bodyguards with you. We’ll meet at the entrance of the police headquarters at 4 p.m.” 

Cecilia nodded and replied, “Okay.” 

Not long after Christopher left, Cecilia went out with ten bodyguards. 

Before visiting Fiona, she made a stop at the herbal pharmacy to acquire trauma ointment and scar–removal cream. 

It took some time to prepare the ointment. By the time she arrived at the hospital, it was almost noon. 

Unfortunately, she ran into Jayden again. 

However, they were going in opposite directions. She got on the elevator as Jayden got off. 

He looked angry. It was obvious that he had been rejected again. 

When Jayden saw Cecilia, he roared, “Did you say something to Fiona? Why won’t she see me?” 

Yesterday, he managed to get close to the ward. However, today, as soon as he stepped out of the elevator, the Yates family’s bodyguards forcibly pushed him back into the elevator. 

Cecilia decided to ignore Jayden.
