Evan was worried that something bad would happen to Cecilia, so he immediately called again. 

Cecilia walked quickly to the sweating highway policeman, who had arrived there after running all the way. 

She had only gotten close when her phone rang again. 

Recognizing Evan’s exclusive ringtone, she hurriedly stepped aside to answer it. 

“Evan, what’s the matter?” 

Evan said in a serious voice, “Ceci, don’t trust anyone except our own.” Although he had been vague with his words, Cecilia understood his meaning. 

“Got it, Evan.” 

After hanging up the phone, Cecilia walked to the highway policeman and asked. “How soon will the ambulance arrive?” 

The captain of the highway policeman looked back and frowned. 

Instead of answering Cecilia’s question immediately, he asked, “Who are you?” 

“A doctor.” 

Seeing her covered in blood and carrying a first–aid kit, the captain believed what she said. 

“The back is too jammed, and the front is impassable, so the ambulance will take an hour at least.” 

Cecilia shook her head and said, “That’s too long. Those seriously injured. people can’t wait. Can’t you have Acocester’s ambulance come in the opposite direction?” 

The accident site was only about ten minutes away from the expressway exit to Acocester, and it would take at most twenty minutes to contact the nearest hospital to send an ambulance. 

The point was that there were no cars along the way, and no accidents would happen even if the ambulance drove on the opposite side of the road. 

After listening to Cecilia’s words, the captain immediately arranged it.

The bodyguards were worried that Cecilia’s wound would be infected if she continued to leave it exposed. 

Hence, one of them said, “Ms. Yancey, you’d better deal with your wound first. It’s quite serious. Mr. Christopher Forte will definitely be 

heartbroken when he sees it.” 

Cecilia glanced at the wound on her arin and stopped walking. 

She took out the remaining hemostatic powder from the first aid kit and poured it directly on the wound. 

After that, she put on some gauze to finish up. That was it.

Cecilia immediately looked at the source of the sound and found it was close to Christopher.

Following another bang, a large SUV exploded violently. 

The heat wave lifted the rear of the car before dropping it heavily.

Cecilia watched the heat wave sweep toward Christopher. 

Her heart leaped into her throat, and she tried to call him but could not make a sound. 

Nonetheless, she never stopped running forward. 

Seeing that Cecilia was about to rush into the heat wave without regard for her safety, the bodyguards immediately stopped her. 

“Ms. Yancey, we can’t go any further. There are too many cars piled up in front of us. A serial explosion is likely to occur.” 

As soon as he finished his words, an explosion sounded again. 

The bodyguard immediately protected Cecilia. 

The heat burned his back and sent shattered glass into him, but he didn’t let out a single sound. 

Although Cecilia was not directly hit by the heat wave, the scalding temperature still caused her face to redden.

Grasping her chest where her heart was, she turned pale from the pain. She shouted with all her strength, “Christopher!” 

She thought, “You promised me that as long as I shouted, you would rush to my side in the blink of an eye. Why aren’t you keeping your word?” 

The bodyguards were also worried about Christopher, but their mission. was to protect Cecilia. 

Worried that there might be another explosion, they immediately took Cecilia away. 

But Cecilia’s feet seemed to have taken root, and she refused to move. 

The bodyguard said anxiously, “Ms. Yancey, come with us to a safe place first. Mr. Christopher Forte will be fine.” 

Despite his words, he didn’t believe it himself. 

Cecilia pushed the bodyguard away and said, “I’m going to find Christopher.”
