Chapter 217: An Accident Involving Max
Charlotte returned directly to Greenside Garden by car. She entered her room, opened the curtains, and gazed quietly at the field of stars in the estate. After a while, her mood gradually calmed.
For some reason, she really wanted to see Max now, wanted to see him immediately. Without hesitation, Charlotte opened her room door and walked out. She headed straight for Max’s study, lowered her head, and knocked on the door.
There was no response.
She knocked again, but the result was the same. At that moment, the butler walked by calmly.
lotte immediately stopped him and asked in a low voice, “Where did Mr. Foster go?”
Upon hearing her question, the butler first bowed politely to Charlotte and then replied, “Mr. Foster had some business to attend to today and has not returned yet.”
He went out? But doesn’t he dislike going out? Max, where could he be? Charlotte pursed her lips and didn’t press for more information, only nodding gently. “I understand.”
In the following hours, Charlotte still didn’t catch a glimpse of Max. He didn’t return until she was already asleep.
In the middle of the night, Charlotte, who was already in a light sleep and highly alert, was suddenly awakened by a commotion. She naturally opened her eyes. It was the sound of urgent footsteps, irregularly echoing on the corridor. Charlotte’s eyes sharpened, and she immediately got out of bed.
Opening her bedroom door, through the dim light, she saw a group of people rushing down the hallway and into Max’s bedroom. A sense of unease instantly welled up in her heart.
The next moment- without any hesitation, she walked out of her room and headed straight for Max’s bedroom.
After the group of people entered the room, the door was securely closed.
When Charlotte approached, the door had already shut, and she couldn’t peer
inside.
So, she extended her hand and knocked on Max’s bedroom door. “Knock, knock.”
At first, there was no response.
Charlotte didn’t give up and continued to tap the door with her fingers.
She wanted to see Max.
Finally, the door opened. Standing before her was the tall and solemn figure of Lance. He had only opened the door a tiny crack and stood tall to block Charlotte from seeing the scene inside, as if afraid she might witness something.
“Madam, is there something you need?” Lance replied respectfully, his tone carrying a heavy weariness in his eyes.
Charlotte got straight to the point, “I want to see Max.”
Upon hearing this, Lance’s expression involuntarily stiffened. He lowered his gaze with a touch of awkwardness and said calmly, “Madam, it may not be convenient right now. Please return, and when Mr. Foster has some free time, he will naturally come to see you.”
Charlotte raised her eyes slightly and insisted, “Didn’t he just come back? He probably hasn’t gone to sleep yet… Why can’t I see him now?”
“Madam…” Lance’s expression was complex as he looked at her, appearing very reluctant to let Charlotte enter.
Charlotte narrowed her eyes. There was definitely something strange going on in that bedroom. She didn’t want to waste time with Lance, so she placed her palm on his shoulder.
Lance seemed unprepared for it, as he gazed at the slender and delicate Charlotte, who unexpectedly exerted such great force in an instant.
As he was pushed, he instinctively took a step back. Charlotte seized the opportunity and pushed open Max’s bedroom door with force. However, the scene before her left Charlotte stunned.

Chapter 217: An Accident Involving Max-
Her entire body froze, and she stood still like she was in a trance. In the neat and tidy bedroom, on the spacious bed lay a person – Max.
He was lying there with his eyes tightly shut. His handsome and refined face had not a trace of color, resembling a pale sheet of paper.
-What was even more horrifying was that he was covered in blood.
The deep red blood had soaked through his white shirt and stained his tall frame.
At this moment, it seemed as though he had countless tiny wounds all over his body, continuously oozing fresh blood that couldn’t be stopped,
Surrounding the bed were a doctor in a white coat and the butler in a suit.
The doctor was tending to Max’s wounds and trying to stop the bleeding, but the situation didn’t look promising. The blood couldn’t be stemmed.
dam,” Lance walked up behind Charlotte and called her in a low voice.
His brow furrowed deeply, his expression filled with worries and, his tone heavy and devoid of strength.
“You’ve seen it as well, and in this situation, I didn’t intend to keep it hidden. But the fewer people who know, the better. I don’t want to frighten
Madam.”
“Madam, you should return to your room… There’s a doctor here, and there’s nothing you can do to help…”
Charlotte clenched her fingers and replied in a low voice, “I’m not leaving.”
The word was as heavy as a thousand pounds. She wouldn’t leave.
“Why?” Charlotte’s eyes were tinged with a faint redness at the corners, and she gritted her teeth. “Why did this happen?”
