Chapter 218: I’ll Save Him
Lance nodded at Charlotte and replied, “It should be them.”
Charlotte’s lips tightened, and her expression turned cold. “So, who are they?”
Lance lowered his eyes slightly at her words, a hint of secrecy flashing in his eyes. He couldn’t tell Charlotte about those people.
So, he pretended not to know and said woodenly, “If only we knew who they were. Knowing that would help us track them down and keep Mr. Foster safe from harm.”
Charlotte clenched her fist, silent.
Lance suddenly thought of what happened today at the French restaurant and couldn’t help but ask, “Madam, who did you have an appointment with today?”
Charlotte didn’t expect him to ask this and hesitated for a moment. She had already discussed this with Max, and there was no need to hide it, so she replied straightforwardly, “I had a meal with someone who has helped my brother.”
“Is that person really the one who helped your brother?” Lance asked abruptly, catching Charlotte off guard.
He stared directly at Charlotte, and there was a barely perceptible sharpness in his gaze.
Charlotte sensed the unusual tone in Lance’s demeanor and suddenly looked up, asking, “What do you mean?”
“Lady, many things happened during the days you left Greenside Garden,” Lance said in a low voice. “Mr. Foster was worried about your safety, so he had people secretly protect you. He learned that your brother was detained by the police, so he had someone take care of him to prevent any mistreatment.”
“All of these actions were taken by Mr. Foster. You had no idea, did you?”
In truth, Mr. Foster hoped to have a meal with you at the same table…
Lance didn’t voice this last sentence.
He just silently repeated it in his heart.
Charlotte’s expression stiffened, and her eyes widened in surprise. “Are you saying that the person helping my brother is actually Max?”
Her composure remained restrained, calm, but her eyes betrayed the underlying turmoil.
Upon careful consideration, Edward had only suspected that Benjamin might be that person, but he wasn’t certain.
Now, Lance spoke with certainty, revealing the entire truth to her.
Benjamin wasn’t the one; it was Max!
So, when she told Max she wanted to have a meal, that was when he had taken such an interest…
Max…
Charlotte’s heart raced.
With a quick stride, she immediately reached the bedside.
The man’s complexion remained as pale as ever, like a fragile glass doll.
He was extraordinarily handsome, yet excessively frail.
He lay there, very still, unlike other patients who might utter sounds of pain. He was silent, as if he had ceased to breathe.
Charlotte’s eyes were red, and she crouched by the bedside.
The doctor continued with life–saving measures, and various medical instruments were arranged nearby.

Chapter 218: I’ll Save Him
Charlotte simply stared at the man’s face, fixating on his cold, pallid lips.
She instinctively reached out to touch Max’s fingertips. His fingertips hore no traces of blood, appearing clean and smooth, albeit with a very low,
temperature.
Charlotte’s gentle touch only encountered a chilling sensation that sent shivers down her spine.
Max.
Max…
Charlotte tightly pressed her lips together,

guilt and sorrow flickered in her desolate eyes.

seems like it’s not going well…” Just then, the doctor sighed heavily, his face troubled. “His blood pressure just won’t stabilize…”
“Bleeding won’t stop?” Charlotte,tely
straightened her posture, squinting at him. “Is this your medical expertise?”
The doctor furrowed his brows upon hearing her words and protested, “Mr. Foster’s injuries are extremely severe, and the situation is very complicated, so controlling the bleeding is very challenging…”
Listening to him, Charlotte rapidly closed her eyes for a moment.
“Step aside,” she then told the doctor, her tone carrying an authoritative command.
The doctor was taken aback, thinking he had misunderstood. “Madam, what do you mean? You want me to step aside?”
“It’s exactly what it sounds like,” Charlotte retorted, her words chilly.
“I’m going to save him.”
She took a few steps closer and pronounced these five words in a resounding voice that reached everyone’s ears.
All three people present stared at her in shock.
“Madam, this is not a joking matter; you are not a doctor,” the family doctor was the first to speak up, attempting to dissuade her.
Charlotte seemed to lack even basic medical knowledge, let alone any experience in treating patients. How could she rashly take on the duties of a doctor?
This was simply absurd!
“Madam, he’s right. This doctor is highly experienced and has a sterling reputation in the field; otherwise, he wouldn’t be Mr. Foster’s family doctor, the butler added. “If even he finds this situation challenging, it will be even more so for you.”
“I said I can, so I can,” Charlotte said firmly and stubbornly. She was resolute in her insistence.
