Chapter 49
Grayson’s touch was irresistible–the gentle way his hand traced my back or ran through my hair, the lingering perfection of his kisses, and the intensity in his steel–gray eyes quickened my pulse.
As the car glided smoothly down the road, I lay curled on his lap, watching him skim through a document. His fingers combed through my strands in rhythmic strokes, making drowsiness settle over me like a comfortable blanket,
“What did the police want from you?” he asked, his tone laced with curiosity.
His question jolted me from the haze of comfort, pulling me back to reality.
“The police investigation revealed I was the actual target of the accident” I feel his thigh tense beneath my head. “Someone paid the driver to aim the Porsche I was driving”
Grayson’s expression shifted instantly. His eyes darkened, and he set the document aside to face me fully
“Why didn’t you tell me immediately?”
“Because when I saw you, I forgot to be afraid.” I gave him a soft smile, reaching up to trace the worried crease between his brows. “You’re so distractingly handsome that I completely forgot I was in danger. It’s impressive!”
For a moment, he was utterly speechless. Then his expression softened, and his thumb grazed my lips with tender precision. “Who do you think would want to hurt you?” he asked, his tone calmer but still laced with concern
Hesitation crept in while sifting through possibilities.
“I honestly have no idea… Maybe Gabriel or Sabrina’s fans! They’re the ones sending me death threats lately
He spoke sharply toward the front of the vehicle. “Eliot, you heard that. Handle it.”
Startled, I looked toward the front of the vehicle “Eliot’s here?”
“Hello, Mrs. Blake! Consider it done, Sir. We’ll track down every internet troll targeting ma’am,” I heard Eliot respond. “Gray, they’re just insignificant. I’ve gotten used to those kinds of messages from overly irrational fans.”
“I’ll never be okay with it. If something were to happen to you..” His hand trembled as he struggled to finish the thought. “Nothing will happen,” I cut him off gently, squeezing his hand. “I promise to be careful.”
His eyes darkened further, but he said nothing more. He responded by capturing my lips on his own, the kiss being both tender and possessive. At that moment, wrapped in his warmth and protection, the threats seemed distant and unreal.
This was my first time entering Grayson’s corporate building. I was taken aback by how advanced the interior and security were. Just how much wealth does Grayson have? And how many businesses does he own
We headed to the top floor, where his office awaited. But when the door opened, a tall woman standing there took me by surprise.
“Grayson!” she exclaimed, immediately throwing her arms around his neck. “I missed you!”
She leaned in as if to kiss my husband’s check, but I quickly snatched the folder from Eliot’s hands and placed it between her lips. I shot her a sharp, disapproving look
Beside us, Eliot cleared his throat awkwardly, a bead of sweat trickling down his temple from the tense atmosphere.

“Babe, who’s this? Loond, using the sweetest endearment I could muster as 1 linked my arm with his, making it clear to the woman that her time was being wasted
Grayson pulled me closer, placing his arm around my shoulder. “This is my wife. Isabella Prescott. He then turned to the woman. “This is Valeria Moroz, a friend“.
“Oh, a “friend“?” Taded, raising an eyebrow. I glanced at the woman in Grayson’s private office. She had clearly been here before. Their relationship had to be more than just that.
Valeria smirked “My, what a jealous, petty thing your wife is, I guess I’d feel insecure too if I were her and met someone like
me.”
I offered her my sweetest smile. “Maybe. But this is an office where important documents are stored. If I had come here alone, I would’ve already called the police.”
“How dare you! What gives you the right?” Her composure cracked.
“Being his wife,” I replied, my smile widening
“Grayson.” She turned to him with wounded eyes.
It reminded me so much of how Sabrina had acted with Gabriel. This woman was doing the exact same thing with my husband, and I had to suppress the urge to roll my eyes. I was so used to seeing women act pitiful in front of men, but only annoyed me.
“Isabella is right, Valeria.” Grayson’s voice is firm, and his eyes never leave me.
Eliot quickly intervened, clearly trying to defuse the situation. “Boss, I’ll personally address the staff member who allowed Ms. Valeria unauthorized entry.”
“Your staff is used to seeing me here after all these years. They know our kind of relationship,” the woman snapped, pointing at me. “Grayson, are you just going to let her humiliate me? We’ve been friends for a long time. She’s nothing but a newcomer! And why didn’t I know you’re married?”
“Are you seriously lecturing my husband?” I interrupted, pulling Grayson closer and gently guiding his head against my chest. “Stop giving him a headache!”
The woman fell silent, taken aback.
“I turned to Eliot “Isn’t your boss’s schedule packed? Does Mc Moroz have
“Why are you even here during business hours?” I an appointment with your company today?”
“No, Mrs. Blake,” the assistant replied promptly.
I flashed my brightest smile. “Then please show her out.”
Valeria’s hand trembled as she pointed at me. “Y–you-”
Furious, she stomped her feet, storming past us toward the door. “Grayson, call me! We need to discuss this!”
“Sorry, but after–hours are reserved for my husband and me,” I called after her. “And to avoid any misunderstandings, you’ll see a lot more of me!”
“You”
“This way, Ms. Valeria,” Eliot said politely, motioning toward the door.
