Chapter 3472
Grady was very happy with Donnie’s attitude.
"Why aren’t you at your family’s manor since you’re back in the city? What are you doing walking on the street so late?" said Grady.
Donnie sighed at Grady’s question and smiled bitterly. "Lolita is now the heir apparent of the family; how could I simply go back? You know that Lolita has always seen me in a bad light."
Donnie was right. Lolita never liked her uneducated and incompetent uncle since she was a child. The Damien family was under Lolita’s control. How could she possibly accept Donnie, who had a bad reputation, back into the family?
Grady chuckled and like he was deep in thought. “Donnie, do you want to be the new Head of the family?’’
Donnie's heart trembled and he nodded without thinking. "Yes, of course."
Grady grinned. "Well, as long as you follow my plans and arrangements, I’ll help you become the new Head of the Damien family."
"Of course! That sounds good! I'll be forever grateful to you if you are willing to help me,” Donnie was excited, and his voice shook as he spoke.
Grady nodded in satisfaction with Donnie’s reply, feeling overjoyed.
‘Lolita, with your second uncle helping me, you won't be able to escape from me for the rest of your life! ’ he thought.
Grady had decided to help Donnie become the next Head of the Damien family. At that point in time, Lolita was still in charge of the Damien family and if Grady forcibly usurped her position, the implications would be disastrous. However, everything would be much easier once Lolita was no longer the Head of the Damien family.
Meanwhile, back at the Damien family manor, Lolita was sitting in the hall, expressionless. Her eyes flashed with anger and shame as Laura stood next to her, furious and shocked.
"That’s so disgusting! How could Young Master Grady behave in such a way?” Laura yelled.
Lolita had just told Laura about her experience. Although Laura was harsh and ruthless, she watched Lolita grow up from a young age. Lolita saw Laura as a part of her family and had done so for a long time. Master Damien was no longer around, so she only had Laura to pour her heart out to.
Laura felt upset and annoyed when she heard Lolita recount the incident. Then, she had a sudden thought. “You mentioned Darryl sent the group of men who rescued you?”
Lolita nodded, bit her lip, and said, "Laura, do you think I’ve misunderstood Darryl? Was Grandfather not killed by him, and he was indeed framed?"
Laura was stunned and then shook her head. "Young Miss, what are you thinking? We determined that Darryl was the murderer during Master Damien’s funeral because the evidence was solid.” •
Then, Laura analyzed. "I think Darryl must have an ulterior motive to send someone to protect you secretly. The leader of the bandit group from Giant Bear Mountain was called Osram and Darryl was his boss. In that case, can Darryl be a good person?"
Laura was a busybody and she knew well of all the rumors in Pearl City; therefore, she knew Osram, she had always looked down on Darryl and had nothing good to say about him after discovering the situation.
Lolita took a deep breath after hearing Laura analyzing the situation as her eyebrows furrowed and she became even more upset. Suddenly, a loud noise came from outside.
"What's the matter? What's the noise out there? Don’t you all know that Miss is in a bad mood today?" Laura shouted in the direction of the noise.
Then, she was about to go out to have a look. However, before she could take a step, she rushed back in a panic. “Young Miss, it’s no good! Young Master Grady has brought so many people here.” ‘What?’ Lolita jolted in anger and felt ashamed.
