Chapter 3473
‘Grady is too much! He brings his men here to give me trouble just because I refuse to marry him?’ Lolita thought as she walked out quickly, with Laura following closely behind.
When she got outside, she took in a sharp breath of air when she saw what was happening in front of her. Hundreds of guards had gathered in the open space outside the hall. Each of them looked aggressive with their big swords and Grady stood in front of them leisurely.
On the opposite side were the members of the Damien family; they stood far away from Grady’s group of men as no one dared to get any closer. Since Master Damien’s death, the Damien family was no longer as influential as before in Pearl City. Naturally, they were unable to contend with the McClaren family.
Finally, Lolita snapped back to her senses. She took a step forward and shouted at Grady, "Grady, why did you bring so many people here?! What do you want?”
Grady gave a faint smirk and made his intentions clear, "what do I want? You colluded with the bandits of Giant Bear Mountain and attacked me on the beach. The cheek of you to ask me why I’m here! Lolita, I like you so much, so how could you do this to me?
"The Mayor is dead and the entire Pearl City is ruled by the Goddess of Light. I’m working under the goddess and I will never tolerate the bandits rampaging the city. Lolita, even though I like you a lot, I cannot turn a blind eye knowing that you are colluding with bandits."
Grady gave Lolita a chiding look as he spoke in a righteous tone, but he had a sinister glint in his eyes. He knew his reputation would be ruined if Lolita told anyone what he did to her that night, so he decided to make the first move.
Everyone in the Damien family was in an uproar. ‘What?’
"Did he say that our Young Miss colluded with the bandits?"
"Re- really?"
"Is that true?"
Lolita was furious when she heard those comments around her and trembled.
‘‘Grady, cut the crap! You know the truth better than anyone else,” Lolita shouted at Grady.
She wanted to explain the truth of what happened on the beach, but her innocence would be tarnished if she explained the incident to the crowd. Nevertheless, she would not allow Grady to twist the facts.
Grady took Lolita’s scolding calmly and chuckled, "Did you say that I was talking nonsense? Many people saw the bandits from Giant Bear Mountain send you back home. You said you didn't collude with the bandits, so why did they send you home?"
All eyes were suddenly gathered on Lolita.
"I..." she blushed, not knowing how to answer the question. 1
Lolita wanted to tell everyone that it was Darryl who sent Osram and his men, but on second thought, things would be even more complicated if Darryl was pulled into the picture. After all, he was previously determined as the real culprit who killed her grandfather.
