Cody smiled as he retrieved the items.
"How would I dare lie to you, High Lady? This is the lanugo hair of the child, and this is Ambrose's hair. It was a journey full of dangers, but I managed to get what I needed in the end."
As he spoke, Cody passed the items to Veron.
Whew…
Just then, Veron took a look at the items. Upon making sure that they were just as Cody had described, she was nothing but joyous.
"Not bad. Get me a ride to the hospital this instant."
Veron had thought it through. If both specimens' genes matched up, that would prove that the child belonged to Ambrose and Heather. That way, Heather would be in irreversible trouble.
It would be best if that was not the case. That would mean that Heather and Ambrose had not done anything in their relationship, and Veron still had a chance.
"Alright!"
Seeing the desperate look on her face, Cody scrambled to respond as he hurried off.
Half an hour later, Cody and Veron reached the hospital's genetics department.
The Lange family was rather known in the New World; thus, the hospital staff did not dare to be impatient with the Lange High Lady as they greeted her respectfully despite being so late at night.
Just then, Veron haughtily addressed one of the genetics doctors. "Doctor! Tell me if these two hair specimens are related by DNA or not. Quickly! I don't like waiting."
"Alright, Miss Lange."
The doctor hurried into the genetics testing lab.
Veron did not follow him in. Instead, she sat on a chair outside to wait with an impatient expression on her face.
Veron had never liked the smell of hospitals from a young age. However, she would have never come to the hospital if it had not been to test the relationship between Ambrose and the child.
Cody stood to the side, accompanying her quietly.
The seconds ticked by one by one.
