Debra and Rachelle had not taken any breaks the entire journey, all while having to avoid the patrolling soldiers. It could be said that they were mentally and emotionally exhausted.
Rachelle nodded at Debra's words, her mood lightening considerably.
Yet just then, about twenty figures could be seen soaring over from the heavens not too far away. They were all clad in armor, and it was clear that they were Godly Region soldiers patrolling the grounds.
Rachelle trembled at the sight.
Master Magaera had sped up enough to have his men near Donghai City already.
At the thought, Debra grew anxious. The woods nearby were pretty sparse, and they would be discovered easily. More than that, neither her nor Rachelle had recovered yet, and they would be no match if a fight was to break out.
"You leave first."
Just then, Rachelle bit her lip to say, "I'll distract them."
Just as the words rang through the air, Debra shook her head. "No way. That's far too dangerous." They were almost at Donghai City, and could not afford to separate.
Yet Rachelle had already made up her mind, and said in a serious tone, "We're really near Donghai City. I'll cover for you while you go back to ask for help. Don't worry, I won't let them catch me."
She knew well and clear that if they were not to split up, the soldiers would catch them for sure. It might be good to take a risk.
"But…"
Debra was nothing but anxious, and opened her mouth to retaliate.
Yet Rachelle cut her off before she could finish with a smile. "This is the only way. Even if I do get caught, you'll be able to find a way to get me out. But if we both get caught, there truly won't be a way."
Upon saying the words, Rachelle lifted her ankles and soared off before Debra could respond.
She had just risen into mid-air when the soldiers spotted her, calling out loud at once.
"It's the lady from the Hidden Hero Sect."
"Quick, get her…"
As they cried out, the soldiers soared forward, charging in Rachelle's direction.
There was no way Rachelle was going to sit and await her fate. She turned, soaring off into the woods and disappearing in the blink of an eye with the soldiers hot on her heels.
Debra's chest thudded with nerves at the sight as she prayed to herself.
All that could be seen was Tuji sat on the main seat, with the elders on both sides of him.
All of the pupils were already present in the middle of the hall. Circe stood in front of all of them in a red dress, radiating nothing but charm.
Everyone frowned at the sight of Antigonus coming in, displeasure coloring their expressions.
"This pupil sure has some nerve, being late on his first time here."
"How rude…"
"We'll see what happens to him later."
Amidst the voices, Circe furrowed her brows. Just like everyone else, she thought that Antigonus was bound to be punished for his tardiness.
"Oh, Beka's here."
Tuji did not look displeased in the slightest at Antigonus arriving late, breaking out into a smile. "You can stand next to Circe, Beka."
As he spoke, Tuji cast a glance around him as he said in a solemn tone, "I've got an announcement to make. Beka is incredibly talented and gifted. I've decided that I'm going to take him in as a pupil of my own starting from today."
