Darryl had a sharp eye and could tell immediately that the fog contained a potent poison that could become life-threatening as time passed.
When Darryl studied medicine with the Divine Farmer, he had once heard him mention that any place with a powerful enough atmosphere to breed rare herbs and supplements always came with something that could cost someone's life close by.
The valley was no different. It bred large amounts of Blood Fungi, but the seemingly ordinary-looking weeds beside it contained poison. The scent of the Blood Fungi could contain the power of the weeds, which maintained peace in the space.
However, since Loona picked so much of the Blood Fungi earlier, it had disrupted the ecosystem of the area, and the weeds released their poisonous gas with no Blood Fungi around to control them.
Whew!
Loona did not stop at Darryl's words. Instead, she took a deep breath before saying impatiently, "Why should I listen to you? Anyone would want as many Blood Fungi as they could collect if they were to come across them! What's wrong with what I'm doing?"
As the words rang through the air, Loona spotted yet another Blood Fungi and plucked it up with great glee.
Darryl sighed at her stubbornness.
The kid was truly still far, far too young. She would learn a tough lesson one day.
At the thought, Darryl said to Monna, "Let's back up a little. Oh, and remember to block your Chimi acupoint."
It would be useful in being immune to the poison in the fog.
Monna did not understand what was going on but did as she was told at once. Upon doing so, she could not help but ask Darryl, "What's going on, Darryl?"
Darryl took a deep breath, pointing at the fog surrounding them. "Look. Plucking up all those Blood Fungi tipped the place's ecosystem off balance. That fog has to be poisonous."
'What?'
Monna was startled by Darryl's words, her expression changing at the sight of the thickening fog in the air as she cried out to Loona, "Loona, stop looking for the Blood Fungi. Come over here."
Following that, Loona's figure jerked harshly as she dashed into Darryl's arms, her eyes sparking with emotion as she cried out, "Father, is that really you?"
Indeed, Loona had inhaled too much of the fog and hallucinated that Darryl was her long-lost father.
Father?
Darryl stopped short at the sudden warmth in his arms and Loona's cries, understanding what was going on immediately. Loona was hallucinating.
He tried to warn her, but she refused to listen, and she would eventually embarrass herself.
At the thought, Darryl could not help but stretch out a hand to pat Loona's face. "Loona, wake up."
Darryl fidgeted with Loona in his arms, her fragrance and warmth making his mind race. It had to be said that Loona had a fantastic figure.
