“Why not?” Melanie asked. 

“The summit in Oskon had been brought forward for this year. It’s happening next week. There are many learning opportunities there. You can attend that,‘ Nander said seriously. “Moreover, Terence left and the studio is temporarily short of suitable replacements. I can’t spare anyone at the moment, so you’ll have to attend the summit.” 

They had discussed this summit several times before and Melanie had wanted to go. However, due to the situation with Dylan, she had been hesitant. Hearing Nander mention it again now, she only pondered for a moment before agreeing with a nod. The situation with Dylan would not be resolved anytime soon anyway. Seeing her solemn expression, Xander thought for a moment and added, “Don’t be too nervous; it’s just a regular networking event. Your current professional capabilities are more than enough.” 

“Yeah, Mel, I’m begging you, can you not be so serious?” Yvonne said from where she sat on the sofa. She looked dispirited. “Why are you working so hard? Can’t you just be a slacker like me?” 

“If she doesn’t work hard, you wouldn’t have known her,” Reny chimed in lightly and it was the truth. 

Compared to Yvonne and others who were from affluent families, Melanie came from a more ordinary background. Stella even considered her someone from a low–class neighborhood. If she had not relied on her abilities and worked hard, she would not have had the chance to sit with people like Yvonne. 

The social hierarchy was just like that. Melanie was not bothered by what Reny said since she was right. 

She glanced at a message from Carla, whom she had previously arranged to discuss the contract today. She immediately informed Xander about it and they left. 

The contract negotiation had taken nearly a month, finally reaching a level satisfactory to both parties. As Melanie watched Carla put down her pen, a sense of relief washed over her. Carla smiled and said, “Pleasure doing business with you.”
