Lottie's POV
I stood there, feeling the weight of Selene's request settle over me. The Moon Goddess herself was asking for a moment alone, and while awe swirled within me, so did a flicker of apprehension.
Chewing the corner of my lip, I eyed her while I contemplated my options. I had so many questions, and I knew in my heart that she was the only one who could give me the answers I sought. Knox's grip on my hand tightened, making me smile at his presence.
"Do you want to go?" he asked softly, concern etched across his features. But I couldn't help but smile at the fact that he was giving me a choice.
"We don't know what she wants," Kane stated, stepping closer to my other side, his eyes never leaving Selene. Maybe we should all stay together," he added, his tone guarded. I glanced between them, touched by their protectiveness.
Letting my lip pop from between my teeth, I sighed heavily and chanced a final glance at the moon goddess. A question swirled in my mind as I remembered that mind reading was not just a demonic perk but a divine one, too.
'I am tired, my body spent and mind exhausted. Can it wait a few hours?'
"But no longer." Her sweet voice replied inside my mind, even as her eyes were on Chase. Something passing between them that irritated me beyond reasoning.
"I'll be okay," I assured my mates as I pulled my eyes from my brother and the moon Goddess and their flirting to offer a small smile to Knox and Kane.
"Are you sure?" Kane asked, seeming to sense my distress.
"He is your brother, are you really jealous?" Sage laughed playfully.
"Nope. Just don't like how chummy they are after all we have been through at her hands." I snapped back as I turned my attention back to my mates. Kane nudged me, waiting for my reply.
