Chapter 141 Arthur Sells His Property
Arthur and Agnes never expected Emily to threaten to expose their secret plot, so the decision to silence her was made on the spur of the moment.
But when Emily tumbled down the stairs, hitting her head and bleeding profusely, both Arthur and Agnes panicked.
Murder was a crime, and Agnes had no intention of going to prison. The moment she saw Camila appear, she didn’t hesitate to frame her for intentional homicide.
This impulsive move by Agnes completely disrupted the plan she and Arthur had just devised.
Camila was taken away by the police and thrown into prison. Ironically, this twist of fate saved her from the horrifying end they had planned–being declared brain–dead and subjected to live organ harvesting.
Otherwise, she would have been fully conscious as her organs were cruelly removed, and after her death, her body would have been used for medical demonstrations. Arthur would have exploited her sacrifice to build a reputation for selflessness.
From this perspective, Emily’s actions indirectly saved Camila’s life.
Although Camila escaped the deadly fate they had planned for her, her time in prison was nothing short of brutal. In this carefully orchestrated conspiracy, there was no way for her to come out unscathed.
If she didn’t act, either her body would be used in Arthur and Agnes’s scheme, or she’d end up in prison. There, Enoch and Abigail, unaware of the truth, would take revenge, and Arthur and Agnes would torment her endlessly.
In comparison, imprisonment seemed like her only “stroke of luck.” At the very least, she walked out of prison alive, giving her the chance to witness the truth finally come to light.
But this was what plunged Camila into the deepest despair and pain because five years ago, her fate had only two possible outcomes.
During her time in prison, she endured endless humiliation and beatings, with her tormentors explicitly telling her that it was all orchestrated by the Connor family.
She hated the Connors for five years, but now, knowing the truth, she couldn’t hate them anymore.
If not for Emily, she would have died five years ago.
Her body would have been stripped of everything, leaving behind a shell to be donated for medical research and cut apart piece by piece under the cold scalpels of medical students–all of it to build Arthur’s so–called philanthropy.
Camila couldn’t possibly hate the Connor family now. Without Emily, she wouldn’t have survived. In the end, Emily endured the suffering meant for her and saved her life. She couldn’t bring herself to resent Emily’s parents.
A sharp pain pierced Camila’s heart, and her vision blurred as tears filled her eyes. She had convinced herself that she was used to being unloved after all the hardship, but when the truth came to light, she realized she couldn’t accept it.
Arthur, her own father, was so heartless that he wanted to strip her of everything, even her dignity.
He had abandoned her at an orphanage as a child, leaving her to survive on her own. When she finally returned to the Jackson family, he still treated her as if she didn’t matter.
She had eighteen years of pain, but he never once cared. Now, he wanted to take her life as well. She was his flesh and blood, yet she couldn’t understand how a father like Arthur could exist in this world.
The kind of twisted upbringing that could turn Arthur into such cruelty baffled her. She couldn’t grasp what she had done to deserve being the sacrificial pawn in this conspiracy.
At that moment, Camila even felt a twisted sense of relief that Arthur had abandoned her as a child. If she had grown up in the Jackson family, she might have turned out as ruthless as Agnes or as foolish as Harry.
She wanted neither a life of ruthlessness nor one of foolishness. All she ever wished for was a simple life, but even that
seemed out of reach.
This conspiracy not only destroyed her life but also dragged Emily into undeserved suffering and plunged the Connor family into endless pain. In an instant, Camila’s hatred for the Connors dissipated, replaced by a sense of guilt. She felt she owed them everything.
The once–prosperous Connor family had fallen into despair. Their daughter, Emily, was left in a vegetative state, and though she had recently regained consciousness, her body was severely weakened, with her lifespan likely shortened.
Meanwhile, their son had been manipulated by Agnes and was now in custody.
Camila wiped away the tears streaming down her face and tried to stand, intending to help Enoch and Abigail.
But the moment she stood, a sharp, tearing pain shot through her chest, and dizziness overwhelmed her. Her legs buckled,
and she fell to the floor.

Chapter 141 Arthur Sells His Property
“Camila!” Lindsey, Keira, and Hazel cried out in alarm.
The three elderly women, already trembling with rage after hearing Emily’s story, reached out instinctively to catch Camila. Their eyes were red with fury.
Yet Giovani was faster, pulling Camila’s frail, unsteady body into his arms before anyone else could react.
Camila tilted her head to look at him, but tears blurred her vision. The harder she tried to see him clearly, the more her tears poured down. Her voice, hoarse and barely recognizable, trembled as she whispered, “Mr. Campbell…”
“I’m here,” Giovani replied softly.
“It hurts. My heart hurts so much,” she choked out.
Those words hit Giovani like a punch to the gut. It was the first time Camila had ever admitted to him that she was in pain.
Even when she got herself drunk and ended up in the hospital, she didn’t say she was hurting. Even when Sean uncovered those damning truths, she hadn’t expressed this kind of anguish.
Giovani gently wiped away her tears, his gaze steady and sincere. “Don’t worry. Whatever you decide, I’m with you, always. You don’t need to worry about anything else,” he said slowly.
Camila understood his words, and her tears poured down uncontrollably. For the first time, she felt no need to suppress
her emotions.
