Chapter 22

Realizing that it would be difficult to convince Ethan Carter of what she was saying with only her own words, she decided to produce evidence that would reveal the truth.

“Well, I look forward to hearing from you.”

Ethan’s reply was crisp and clear, he did want to know what the truth was. As soon as the words were out of his mouth, Emma Johnson stubbornly turned around and limped towards the elevator. Watching her stumbling back, Ethan felt a mixture of

emotions.

“A family member is coming over.”

The door to the resuscitation room opened again, and the doctor’s voice interrupted his thoughts. Returning to his senses, Ethan walked over to Olivia Brooks‘ hospital bed. Her face was injured, and gauze was attached to her face. Seeing this, Ethan couldn’t help but frown slightly, “Doctor, will her face be scarred?”

“It’s possible, but with proper care, the chance of scarring is very small.”

The doctor hesitated and gave an explanation. Not long after returning to the hospital room, Olivia slowly opened her eyes, and the pungent smell of disinfectant filled her nostrils. Looking around, she realized she was in a hospital, and was about to sit up when a sharp pain hit her.

“You’re awake, don’t move, your arm is hurt.

Ethan heard the commotion and immediately stepped forward to stop it.

“Ethan, my face hurts.”

Olivia bit her lip gently, and her eyes immediately filled with tears. Even though the injuries on her body weren’t serious, she still acted rather pitiful in front of Ethan.

“Bear with it, the doctor said that your injury is not serious, you can recover after two days of rest.”
