Chapter 646
Even though she was just his son's secretary, everybody knew that the person backing her up was a good friend of Ricky's father. So, none of them dared to mistreat her.
"It's just a token of appreciation," Joelle replied with a warm smile. She did not take the initiative to approach Sean even though she was interested in him because she knew that Sean would hate her for doing so.
She passed the gift to the butler. Then, she changed into a new pair of slippers and went into the house.
She saw Sean as soon as she stepped into the house, she greeted him after getting closer to him, "Mr. Sean, you wouldn't mind me having a free meal here, right?"
Sean's expression did not change one bit. He looked as nonchalant as he would be in the office. It seemed like Joelle was nothing but a pile of documents on his office desk.
He did not put any personal feelings into it while dealing with either of them.
"That's a question for the people preparing the meal, not me." Sean threw her a glance and the atmosphere turned cold.
Alice was worried for a second as she spoke hurriedly, "Okay, okay. Everyone's here. Let's start eating."
Joelle was not bothered by what Sean said as she confidently strode ahead to the dining table and sat down.
Sean glanced over. 'Why do I look like the petty one, right now?' Sean felt like he was entering a royal banquet as he looked at the three people sitting at the table.
He was the last one to sit at the table, looking indifferent. He purposely picked the seat opposite Joelle.
Ricky and Alice were sitting at one side as they wanted him to sit beside Joelle, so Sean and Joelle would be facing them.
However, Sean sat on their side instead, leaving Joelle alone on one side.
Everyone paused while Sean looked nonchalant.
The expression on Joelle's face changed slightly. She looked at the dishes on the table, and she lost all her appetite after seeing how much Sean wanted to avoid her.
'Why won't he just sit with me?'
She felt very insecure, but she did not show it on her face.
Ricky and Alice felt very awkward, and they had no idea what to do or say. After some time, Alice took the initiative to fetch some food for Joelle.
"Joelle, you don't have to be shy at all. Eat more. Tell me what kind of dishes you like, and I'll tell the chef to prepare them for you next time." Alice knew that Mr. Anderson Sr. wanted Sean to be with Joelle.
She was also pretty satisfied with Joelle's family background.
After seeing Joelle in person, she found out that Joelle was gorgeous and graceful, so she was very happy with her. That was why she was being so friendly to Joelle.
Then, something else happened.
Sean knew what she was trying to do, so he was not trying to give Alice any chance to get closer to her.
"Why didn't Sharon come to our house recently?" Sean pretended to ask casually.
