Will first gave Zoey a basic examination to make sure that she was in good health. He turned to look at Kara, who was standing straight with his back straight and tense. He felt a little sympathetic for her.
Kara depended on others for a living and she was thin and timid.
Without James protecting her, she might be suffered.
"It's getting late. Madam Hemming, I'm leaving now. I will send Kara back. Is that OK?"
Zoey looked outside the window and said with a smile, "It's time for you to leave. I heard that you are going to take the college entrance examination soon. You should spend more time on study. I can't waste your time."
Zoey turned and waved at Kara. She patted Kara's hand and said, "Kara, come to visit me when you have time after the college entrance examination."
"Thank you, Great Grandma." Kara wore a wooden smile.
When she went out of the Hemming's with Will and arriving at James's villa, Kara breathed a sigh of relief with a pale face.
"Don't be afraid. There is no hungry wolf in the Hemming's."
Kara looked weak, and Will couldn't help but chuckle.
"Wolves are ferocious animals. If I don't provoke them, they won't easily attack me. However, Madam Hemming kept saying things which supposed to mean something. I really can't get along with scheming people like I'm acting in a palace drama."
Zoey wore a kind smile on her face, but she was like the Empress Dowager in the drama.
It was more than a dinner. It was clearly an ambush!
"Go sit down. I'll check on you." Will didn't want to talk more about this topic.
Because from the moment James took her in, she had been involved with the "drama". She would have to face it sooner or later.
Libby was happy to see Kara. When she went to fetch a glass of water for will, she took the opportunity to report to James.
Will gave Kara a check-up and gave Libby some notes before he left.
At night, Kara and James had a video call.
James first helped her with her studies. After that, he tried to ask her about what happened in the Hemming's at night, but Kara avoided the topic.
It was completely normal for Zoey to be alert that a young girl lived in James's villa.
Kara did not want to think too much about it. She only wanted to focus on studies and get into University A.
Seeing that she was unwilling to say more, James did not force her. He asked her to study hard. When he returned to the country, he would check on her results.
Kara nodded. She did not dare to slack off in the slightest regarding her studies.
However, she had a nightmare in the evening. In the nightmare, she did not get into University A. James and Kathleen were engaged and Kathleen lived in the villa. And Kathleen didn't like her and drove her out of the villa.
She left James's villa and wandered the streets. On a night when it thundered, she was taken away by the demon.
Because of this nightmare, Kara was not in a good mood.
When she think of that terrifying dream, she did not dare to cry, nor did she hoped anyone would help her. She decided to become stronger so that she would not be bullied.
James returned to the country late at night, and he went to Kara's room for the first time.
As he approached the bed and saw Kara's pale face under the faint moonlight, he frowned.
"Kara, did you miss me?" he wondered.
During the time he left, he missed her every moment.
He was worried that she was tired from studying and would have nightmares at night. He also paid attention to the weather in the country every day. He hoped it wouldn't rain or thunder. Otherwise, Kara would hide in her bed and cry in fear.
The next morning, Kara washed up and went to the exercise room. Just as she was about to run on a treadmill, she saw a familiar figure. She widened her eyes in surprise, wondering if it was her illusion.
"I'm not in a dream, am I?"
She ran to him and poked his face.
It was warm. He was real!
She jumped up in surprise. She put on a bright smile in the morning sunshine.
"Uncle James, when did you come back?"
James hold her hands and rubbed her head. He teased, "I ran out of your dream."
Kara didn't speak. She stared at James without blinking.
Fortunately, it was not a dream. She was about to cry, but she felt that it was shameful to cry in front of him since she had grown up.
She lowered her head to hide her expression and bumped his chest with her forehead.
