Uncontrollable Fondness novel Chapter 21

Her voice became dumb, and her throat hurt, she was tired. Being helpless and hopeless, she slowly slid down the door panel, letting the cold floor soak her, crying non-stop.

The door trembled slightly. Mia, who was crying for hours and finally fall asleep, trembled from the noise and woke up. Looking up, she saw Rebecca Johnson’s face which was standing on top of her head with no emotions. She sneered when she saw Mia’s naked body, and threw her a set of clothes, “Get dressed immediately and go downstairs!”

“Go downstairs...Why?” She hugged the clothes tightly and asked vigilantly.

Rebecca said coldly, “To have a meal!”

“I don't want to eat; I want to leave!” The pleading gaze fell pitifully on Rebecca’s face. Mia knew that the woman in front of her wouldn’t feel pity for her, but she still hoped she’d let her go because she was a woman too.

Rebecca apparently didn't want to let her go and stared at her with dissatisfaction. It was the kind of eyes that felt she wasn’t ungrateful, and she sneered coldly, "The President is downstairs, you can tell this to him!”

Then she twisted her body, and Mia heard her high-pitched footsteps on the corridor.

Three minutes later, Mia stood at the top of the stairs on the second floor of the Brown family's home. She looked down and saw an elegant but cold figure sitting upright on the long white dining table. It was William Brown with his icy-cold face, even colder than the Rebecca’s face who was standing by his side.

His long eyelashes were lightly converged. He raised his eyelids to give Mia a look from the bottom of the eyes, lifting his lips and saying without emotions, “Come here, quickly!” His voice was sexy and magnetic, and if it wasn’t now and in this situation, she would love that announcer voice.

Mia’s small face shrunk uncomfortably, her hands clenched to the sides of the white long dress, and she bit her lips and walked down obediently. Stopping in front of him, she saw a table full of delicacies, everything looked delicious. She just stood like this, wanting to explain things clearly to him and then ask to let her go.

Mia looked at him quietly, he was holding a knife and fork with his slender fingers, cutting a steak. His way of eating was elegant and charming, like a performance, and there was no trace of improperness. He cut off a piece and pushed it back with a fork, blinking randomly, “Sit down!”

Her body softened. His posture of imperial supremacy, and the command of absolute power, of course, almost made her lose herself, and she sat down.

However, she immediately recovered, her face changed, hoping to solve the problem peacefully, “Mr. Brown, I want to tell you that I can't... ”

“President, your phone,” Rebecca Johnson was holding luxurious black mobile phone and gave it to him at forty-five degrees, successfully interrupting her. Mia pursed her lips. Sooner or later she will say what she has to say, she will just let him finish the call.

William’s cold face suddenly softened after seeing the number on the screen, as if he had changed completely and immediately, and the gentle voice slid out, “Sophia, are you there? Got used to everything? Good, I will come to see you after this busy time. Please, take care of yourself and listen to doctors. Um, I miss you too...”

Was this William Brown? Wasn't he used to being cold? Who was it? Can something turn him to be so strange?

Yes, strange.

During all these days with him, all she received was his ruthlessness and scorn, and she never expected that this man could have such a human side.

Sophia, she must be the girl he really liked.

Finally, he hung up the phone, and the tenderness on William’s face went away. When he turned his face over the phone, he asked Rebecca Johnson, “Did Mrs. Brown say anything when she left?”

Mrs. Brown? So Sophia was his wife?

“No,” Rebecca replied quickly and simply, and after a pause she said, “Mrs. Brown is very fair and reasonable, she always puts you, your grandfather and your mother first. When she left, she was still very sad for not being able to give a decent birthday gift to your grandfather.”

He frowned tightly, like he was caught in some kind of thoughts. Mia didn't want to wait any longer. She took a step forward and said abruptly, “Excuse me, Mr. Brown, can I go now?”

His thoughts were interrupted, William raised his face very displeased, and returned to that cold-blooded and merciless appearance again, as if the expression he had just now was Mia’s fantasy, and there was no trace of tenderness at all, “Sit down, eat!”

Why should she sit down, why should she eat? Mia’s stubborn temper came up again, she turned around and walked directly to the door, "Mr. Brown, you can’t imprison me, I want to go...”

In the middle of the speech she stopped, as the muzzles of two guns were pointing right at her chest. Two men in black stood straight, like two dark clouds covering her world. A ruthless voice stabbed from behind, "You said I can’t?”

William sat in the same place, without even raising his eyes. Mia was already trembling. It's not that she hadn't seen it before. The bloody scene of the bullet penetrating the knee appeared in her mind again, and her face quickly turned pale.

“Why?” she asked quietly, just wanting to know why this man named William Brown had to dominate over her again and again. He has money and power. With his ability, what kind of woman he can’t get?

William raised his lips arrogantly, grinning ruthlessly, “There is no why!” He, the son of the rich family, when he’s doing something has to be asked so many boring why?

Seeing that Mia was still standing there stubbornly and all shaking as she didn’t give up, he added in a good mood, “I don’t want a woman who looks exactly like my wife to be sold to someone. It would blaspheme my wife’s face!”

Because she looks like his wife? So, he can do whatever he wants with her life? Mia was angry, extremely angry, more than ever! She turned her face, the pure beauty of the face was covered in the flames of anger, "William Brown, I am not your wife, I am Mia, and I have nothing to do with your wife! Let me go!”

“Unless you don't want to live.”

She really didn’t want to live anymore.
