Under the Veil I Rule novel Chapter 164

Finnian kept mulling over the word "wife" in his mind, not uttering a single word.

A chilly breeze swept past, causing Amara to shiver slightly. She felt an urge to leave this place and shifted her body a bit.

But at that moment, Finnian suddenly grabbed her chin again, leaning down to kiss her mouth through the soft mask she wore.

Amara's eyes widened instantly. Almost reflexively, she tried to push him away.

Finnian pulled her closer by the waist, holding her tightly so she couldn't escape his embrace. He closed his eyes, deepening the kiss.

He kissed her fiercely, and after the initial shock, Amara was filled with nothing but shame and anger. She struggled in Finnian's arms, trying to speak, but could only manage muffled sounds.

Her lips hurt like hell because he was so rough. It was all she could do to push him away, but it was useless. He was too strong, and tears threatened to spill from her eyes.

Just then, footsteps approached from outside the rooftop, accompanied by distant voices that grew clearer. "Hogan, Celeste, you sure you saw someone come up here?"

"Yeah, we saw it with our own eyes. Afraid that they might try to suicide, so we came to check it out."

Leading the way were Hogan and Celeste, followed by Liliana, Patrick, and a few young members of the Cooper family who'd all been let in on the situation.

Liliana seemed to be in high spirits, smiling as they reached the rooftop door. Hogan remembered seeing Amara's silhouette disappear through it earlier, and a smirk played on his lips.

With a loud bang, he pushed the door open with both hands.

Amara lifted her head from Finnian's embrace, her gaze meeting the stunned group at the door. Her embarrassment was overwhelming.

She tried to bolt, but Finnian pulled her back, his hand gripping her waist like a vise. He said to Patrick, "Mr. Cooper, I forgot to introduce you earlier. This is my wife, Amara."

"Okay, so Ms. Sullivan is your wife, huh? Guess it's Mrs. Everly now, isn't it? Hahaha."

They had known all along that Amara was Finnian's wife, but since the couple had kept it a secret, no one wanted to bring it up directly. They all played along, pretending ignorance.

Now that Finnian had addressed the elephant in the room, the tension eased. The Everly family members approached, cracking jokes with the couple.

Amara remained curled up in Finnian's arms, her eyes cast downward, her nails digging into her palms, her body still trembling.
