Under the Veil I Rule novel Chapter 172

The pressure Finnian brought was overwhelming, completely different from when she faced Will. He had practically pinned her in the passenger seat.

"Mr. Everly, what do you need from me?" Amara asked after Finnian settled in his seat as well, her head bowed as she clutched the strap of her bag.

Finnian remained silent, simply turning to stare at her. The car was a confined space, and the atmosphere was undeniably charged when they were left alone, especially after their kiss yesterday.

Luckily, the mask covered her face, hiding her blush from Finnian. Amara kept her head low, hoping he wouldn't notice her discomfort.

But Finnian continued his silence, his thought unfathomable. Amara glanced at him quickly. The injuries on his face were minor, just a faint bruise at the corner of his mouth. His pale skin made it more noticeable, but it did nothing to diminish his handsome, almost otherworldly features.

Yet, no matter how good-looking someone was, staring without speaking was unsettling. Amara shifted back, asking again, "Mr. Everly, what did you want to discuss?"

"Mr. Everly" and the formal tone again? What happened to the fiery spirit she had yesterday when she slapped him?

Finnian leaned closer, his hand resting on the car door at the passenger’s seat. His face suddenly loomed large, triggering unwelcome memories from the day before. Frightened, Amara pressed against the door. "Mr. Everly!"

Finnian paused, his eyes fixed on her for a few more seconds. Then, as if finding the situation uninteresting, he backed off.

Amara let out a sigh of relief. The car felt stifling, the silence oppressive, creating the illusion that she could hear Finnian's heartbeat.

Now that he had moved away, she dared to breathe more freely.

"Break up with Keith," Finnian suddenly stated.

Amara froze.

"End things with him, and I'll divorce you," Finnian continued.
