"You and him can do whatever you want. You don't owe me any explanations."
Elysia cut him off coldly.
Dorian's eyes flickered with anger, just about to retort when Larry and Finnian strolled over, their conversation drifting to everyone's ears in bits, "Let's sign the preliminary agreement first, and hopefully, we can deepen our collaboration in the future."
"The Sullivan project has caught everyone's attention, and we're quite interested too. I'm sure we'll have the chance for extensive cooperation down the line."
Finnian and Larry exchanged a few words, but even those brief exchanges made Amara's brow furrow.
As Finnian parted ways with Larry and walked over to her, she quickly asked, "What did you talk to my father about? Are you working together?"
"Yeah, it's the new project. Have you heard of it?" Finnian replied, watching her.
Amara frowned.
She knew about the project Finnian mentioned. Currently, both the Sullivan family and the Everly family were developing it, but the progress couldn't be more different. Instead of a partnership, it seemed more like the Everly family was lending a hand to the Sullivan family, evident from the rare sight of Larry's usually stern face breaking into a broad smile. So, what was Finnian's angle?
"Why are you doing this?" Amara inquired, "It doesn't benefit you at all."
"There's always something to gain," Finnian replied earnestly. "No businessman makes a deal without some profit in mind."
His answer seemed straightforward enough, but Amara couldn't shake the feeling that something was off.
Just then, someone approached to speak with Amara, and she followed them to the doorway, leaving Finnian and Dorian to head out to the balcony.
Dorian's face remained skeptical. Why help if he claimed to have moved on? Seeing her struggle? Finnian wasn't known for being a soft-hearted guy.
"Finn, you're becoming more incomprehensible," he said bluntly.
Finnian glanced at him, offering no rebuttal, "If you say so."
"Sure, I'll have my room tidied up, and we can head up together."
