Under the Veil I Rule novel Chapter 47

"Why did you write this?"

Finnian shook the document, his eyes swirling with anger.

Was he mad? Amara couldn't quite decipher his emotions.

Eyes downcast, she spoke calmly, "You're aware of what's been happening lately. Liliana insists I'm clinging to you and has repeatedly harassed me, even warning me off. Just the other day, she questioned my professionalism, suggesting I rewrote the script just for you. Then, she had someone write a defamatory article about me, leading to a storm of online abuse. I just couldn't take it anymore, so I wrote this statement."

As she spoke, Liliana, usually so composed, was trembling slightly. Finnian glanced at her, and she quickly looked down.

Finnian looked back at Amara. She maintained her calm demeanor, but her eyes held a sadness that tugged at the heart.

"Mr. Everly, Ms. Porter, please rest assured," Amara continued, her voice softening.

"You can keep a copy of this. It states the penalty fee if I breach it. You can sue me if I do, so there's no need to worry."

Amara knew clearly that today's actions and this statement put her in a humble position, but she felt she had no choice. She didn't want Finnian to think she was clinging to him. Even if they couldn't be together, she wished to leave him with a good impression.

She couldn't afford to offend Liliana. Despite her better family background, she held no real position in her own household, whereas Liliana had the influential Finnian backing her.

Accepting this reality, Amara realized she couldn't match Liliana's power. Even if Liliana hurt and wronged her, she lacked the means to fight back.
