what is it?” asked Logan. 

“I was stopped at the entrance by one of your admirers when I got back to the office. She shoved this bag into my arms and insisted that I bring it to you. It’s filled with treats from doonlight Pastries that are perfect for afternoon tea. Apparently, she was worried that you might be hungry or something” 

Moonlight Pastries was one of the most famous pastry shops in Glendale. They were known for their delicious and beautifully presented snacks, albeit quite pricey. 

Ordinary folks would not usually spend their money on such luxurious delicacies. 

Engan did not even bother glancing at the bag of pastries as he continued scanning through the documents in his hand. “Who was it? 

“It was Karen Stone,” replied William as he took a seat by the desk. “She’s the one who’s been targeting the missus, all while trying to pursue you day and night. 

What do you think is gonna happen once she learns that you’re married? Do you think that she’ll be furious? I think she might even go after the missus even harder in order to Try and make her life miserable.” 

While Karen had never made a public confession, everything she had been doing up to this point clearly showed that she had an interest in Logan.

Logan put down his pen and glared at his best friend. “Are you done with your speech yet? You almost sounded like a parrot just now, going on and on.” 

William was not offended by being called a parrot at all. He felt that it was worth being labeled as such if it meant being able to hear gossip every day 

Logan pulled out an invitation letter from the drawer and tossed it in front of William “Why don’t you attend the banquet tonight on my behalf if you’re so free?” 

“I have my own invitation as well, Logan. Don’t forget, the banquet is hosted by Mr. Jenkins Senior. You’ve always respected him, no? You even promised that you would attend the banquet.” 

Logan put the letter back in his drawer and replied, “I was planning to pick up the kids and go home.” 

“It can’t be helped, since you’re trying to keep your marriage a secret. So, are you thinking of bringing the kids to the banquet with you tonight? 

“No, they’re still too young. The Quall family will also be attending the banquet, and I don’t want the kids to be exposed to the harsh realities of human nature so soon.” Achild’s childhood should be innocent and pure
