They didn’t understand why Logan had to lie to Lorraine. They wondered if Lorraine would really leave them if Logan didn’t do so. 

The adult world was just too complicated for them 

“Are you guys hungry?” 

Lorraine asked as she drove 

“I have some pastries here. If you’re hungry, you can have them to ride you over first We need to go to the supermarket to buy some groceries before we can cook dinner. So, it might take awhile before we can rat ” 

She reached for the two boxes of pastries on the passenger seat and handed them to the kids 

Luna eagerly took the bag. 

“It’s from Moonlight Pastries. 

Finnegan said when he saw the box. 

Lorraine smiled. “Finn, you can read the label? 

“Dad teaches us to read. We know many words. Mom, let me tell you, Luna and I know the most words in our class. The teacher always praises up 

Lama, the more talkative of the two, loved sharing happy moments with Lorraine. 

“That’s amazing! I’m so proud of you both!” 

Lorraine complimented them, making the kids beam with pride. 

“Mom, did you buy these pastries especially for us 

Finnegan asked while eating 

The siblings loved pastries from Moonlight Pastries, Michael would always make sure they had fresh ones ready when they came home from school. They never got tired of them. 

Lorraine smiled. “Your dad bought them.” 

The siblings exchanged a look. It turned out that Logan was the one who got the treats. 

“These pastries are really delicious and beautifully made, but they’re so expensive.” 

Lorraine remarked, feeling like she was wasting money with every bite. 

Being clever as usual, Luna guessed that Logan bought the pastries to make Lorraine happy. She playfully asked, “Dad rarely buy these. Why did he decide to get Moonlight’s pastries today?” 

Lorraine simply grinned without responding.
