Back at their apartment, Lorraine headed straight to the kitchen to start cooking. 

with the slow cooker, she didn’t have to watch over the fire. 

She checked the fridge for ingredients and realized they were running low on groceries. She might settle for a simple bowl of pasta if she was alone. But since the kids were here, she needed to prepare something nutritious 

She pulled out her phone and called Logan. When he answered, she asked, “Logan, are you coming back for dinner? I’m about to go grocery shopping, and I’ll buy more if you’re eating with us.” 

Logan was currently in a car, on his way to the Jenkins residence for a banquet. He was accompanied by a team of bodyguards. 

“I’m working overtime tonight at the construction site, so I won’t be back soon. You don’t need to cook for me. Just make sure you and the kids eat well. Buy some good ingredients. Don’t skimp on yourself. Our site will be doing a lot of overtime, so next month’s paycheck will be much higher ” 

Logan knew Lorraine was worried about their finances and wanted to save money. 

He was relieved she went to pick up the kids. Or else, she would’ve simply grabbed a quick bite. 

“The grocery stores don’t have the best selection in the evening Anyway, Fill just cook for the three of us. If you need a late–night snack, let me know beforehand. I’ll prepare something for you.” 

Logan felt warm satisfaction. He replied, “Okay” 

He reminded himself not to drink or overeat at the banquet tonight. He might expose himself if he got drunk. 

Besides, he would miss out on his wife’s late–night snack if he ate too much 

“Alright, take care and come back soon. I’m heading to the supermarket now 

After ending the call, Lorraine put her phone in her pockor, left the kitchen, and asked the kids, “Do you want to come to the supermarket with me, or stay here to do your homework, or watch cartoons? 

“I want to go to the supermarket with you!” Luna and Finnegan eagerly shouted. 

Lorraine smiled. “Alright, my darlings. Let’s go. 

The two kids excitedly ran up to Lorraine, and she led them out the door. 

As they descended the stairs, Lorraine held their hands. It was getting darker, and many workers from the nearby industrial area were finishing their shifts. The streets were becoming more crowded. She didn’t want to risk the kids getting lost. 

There was a large supermarket near Violet Conser 

The three of them headed there. 

Spotting some fresh shrimp, Lorraine bought a pound. She also picked up some beef to make some beef stew, a big bunch of greens, and a carton of eggs since they were out of es back home. 

“Do you guys want anything? Feel free to pick out whatever you like” 

Lorraine might be frugal with herself, but she was generous when it came to her kids.
